NYC: BARRET IS BACK ON RESTAURANT ROW
Chris Barrett returns to LA RIVISTA RISTORANTE (313 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-366-4603) on Monday, May 19th, where he will be at the piano Mondays through Wednesdays. There are two shows nightly, a dinner show at 8:00 and a supper show at 10:00 pm. Chris Barrett's performances are in the tradition of the great late-night boites of a fondly remembered era, when the likes of Hugh Shannon, Bobby Short, and Buddy Barnes manned the keyboard. NYC: IRA LEE COLLINGS SINGS "OFF THE CHARTS" AT MAMA'S
Ira Lee Collings brings his show "Off the Charts" back to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Wednesday, September 17th at 7:00 pm; Sunday, September 21st at 3:00 pm; Wednesday, October 1st at 7:00 pm; and Sunday, October 5th at 4:00 pm. Special Guests are Stella Pulo, Mary Sue Daniels, and Sheree Sano. The show will be featuring songs such as Nothing Can Stop Me Now, Comes Once In A Lifetime, Love Is Just Around The Corner, No Matter What Happens and It's So Nice To Have A Man Around The House. After many years of Open Mic's in New York City, he took a 25-year hiatus from Show Business and re-emerged six years ago in Cabaret with his full name, Ira Lee Collings. And now at age 79, he's back with another new show. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: MAXINE LINEHAN: BEAUTIFUL SONGS
After a critically acclaimed run of her solo show An American Journey, Maxine Linehan will next present Beautiful Songs at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesdays in October, the 1st, 8th, 8th, & 15th at 7:00 pm and the 22nd at 9:30 pm. This new show was created and directed for Maxine by Scott Siegel. This brand new show will be an exploration of what makes a song not just pretty, but beautiful. Singing songs from a wide variety of genres from Broadway, folk, pop, and beyond, the critically acclaimed Maxine Linehan will give audiences a rare hour filled with beauty created from irresistible melodies, with elegant and incisive lyrics. Beauty, of course, is in the eyes (and the ears) of the beholder, so you are invited to come and behold Beautiful Songs. Maxine made her professional debut with The Irish Operatic Repertory Company at age 17. In 2009 she created and performed a cabaret act as a tribute to Petula Clark, which later led to an independent studio album. Most recently, Maxine performed a sold out run of her solo show An American Journey both at Birdland and at Terminus Recording Studios in Times Square. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: JUMAANE SMITH: I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU
Jumaane Smith will celebrate the release of his debut album 'I Only Have Eyes for You' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Wednesday, October 1st at 9:00 pm. Smith is best known to audiences throughout the world as the lead trumpeter for international superstar Michael Buble for the past decade, multi-faceted singer, entertainer and musician Jumaane Smith is set to make his highly anticipated METROPOLITAN ROOM debut. Smith's dynamic 75 minute set will feature material from the recording in addition to new arrangements of classics by Buble, Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Joe Williams/Count Basie, adult contemporary hits like "You Are So Beautiful" and R&B tunes like "Just The Way You Are." The trumpeter's seven piece band incorporates elements of traditional Dixieland jazz, swing, blues, contemporary jazz, adult contemporary and soul. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: TONY DESARE - NIGHTLIFE
Acclaimed vocalist Tony DeSare returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Tuesday, September 30th & Wednesday, October 1st, and Thursday through through Sunday, October 3rd through 5th with a brand new show: Night Life with performances each night at 7:00 pm. The postmodern version of the classic, elegant New York night club of the 1950's show will be brought to life in one of the only New York City night clubs left that still truly captures that ambiance. Tony DeSare's new show will explore some of the most hauntingly beautiful and memorable melodies ever written, both old and new, plus a few new DeSare originals. From Cole Porter and Duke Ellington to Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Willie Nelson, the only requirement is a sophisticated, romantic and swinging melody. Add in a martini or two and you have the quintessential night out on the town. Featuring Tony's quartet led by Tedd Firth on piano with Edward Decker on guitar, Steve Doyle on bass and Michael Klopp on drums. There is a $30-$70 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

Isabel Rose celebrates her exciting, new 60s-flavored CD release, Trouble In Paradise (distributed by Red, a division of SONY records) with a sexy, splashy, Vegas-inflected, unapologetically joyful hour of entertainment at 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, October 1st at 9:30 pm. Sporting a five-piece band plus two dancing girls, Isabel delivers favorites from the American Songbook and pop canon, delighting audiences with her wit, timing and sassy interpretations. If you're looking for a fun night out that's glamorous and retro, this is it. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
