LONDON: ADAM KIRKALDY AND STEFAN BEDNARCZYK
Adam Kirkaldy and the renowned Stefan Bednarczyk present STORMY WEATHER, a show in aid of Leuka, the specialist charity for leukaemia research, at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Monday, September 29th at 8:00 pm. The show addresses the ups and downs of life with a light, humorous touch, through a variety of music. By day Adam is Front of House Training Manager for Corbin & King. He studied opera at university in Johannesburg and enjoyed a successful career in musical theatre before moving into education and the world of restaurants. He has worked with Chris Corbin, co-owner of The Wolseley, The Delaunay, Brasserie Zedel, Colbert and Fischer's for over five years. Chris is a Trustee and Vice-Chairman of Leuka and a survivor of chronic myeloid leukaemia. Adam is joined by Stefan Bednarczyk, actor, musical director and cabaret performer. Described as "one of the most important interpreters of Coward that we have", Stefan's extensive credits as Musical Director include shows at the National Theatre, the Barbican, the Almeida, Hampstead and Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park, and the British premiere of Boy Meets Boy at the Jermyn Street Theatre. As a solo cabaret performer he has enjoyed seasons in London, New York and many major European cities. Call for cover/minimum information.
LONDON: TINA MAY: "MY KIND LOVE" CD LAUNCH
Tina May celebrates the release of her new CD "My Kind Love" at THE PHEASANTRY (152-154 King's Road, London SW3 4UT - 08456 027 017) on Monday, September 29th at 8:30 pm. Arrangements are by Frank Griffith, Duncan Lamont and John Jensson. Musicians include John Pearce (piano), Winston Clifford (drums), Frank Griffith (ten sax,clarinet), Janusz Carmello (trumpet), String Quartet. This is a companion volume to "Divas" from last year. The programme contains some less familiar fare plus Originals By Duncan Lamont. Call for cover/minimum information.
LONDON: ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY AT RONNIE SCOTT'S
Platinum Award winning singer /songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway will appear at RONNIE SCOTT'S JAZZ CLUB (47 Frith Street, Soho, London, W1D 4HT - 44 (0)20 7439 0747 - ) on Monday & Tuesday, September 29th & 30th - doors open at 6:00 pm. Her new record, From Sassy To Divine: The Sarah Vaughan Project: Live at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, was released September 16th and goes a long way in establishing Ann as one of the premier jazz voices in the world. It's Callaway's first live solo CD and it was recorded at the height of her vocal and interpretive powers. Now she's taking this award winning show on the road. Callaway has written over 250 songs including the theme to the hit TV series The Nanny and multi-Platinum hits for seven of Barbra Streisand's recent CDs. Callaway's starring role in the jazz Broadway musical Swing! earned her a Tony nomination and The Theater World Award. Support on the night will come from resident pianist, Ronnie Scott's Artistic Director and Oscar Peterson specialist James Pearson. James will be performing a set of Oscar classics with his trio.
