TORONTO: JAZZ.FM91 COMPOSERS SERIES: ADAM MAKOWICZ
JAZZ.FM91 presents The Composers Series, at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299). The series will feature local and international artists paying tribute to some of the greatest composers and songwriters of all time. Adam Makowicz, master of improvisation and a piano virtuoso, presents a "Tribute to Gershwin" on Monday, February 10th at 8:30 pm. One of the country's foremost woodwind artists, Chris Vadala, will perform atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Monday, February 10th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Vadala is recognized as the Director of the Jazz Studies program at the University of Maryland, along with his long tenure as the standout woodwind artist for Chuck Mangione.  Chris has performed with the most recognized names in Jazz and is among the most sought after clinicians in the country. D.C.: THE BOHEMIAN CAVERNS JAZZ ORCHESTRA MONDAYS
The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra performs every Monday night at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Still the Hottest Big Band in the City, The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra is a 17 piece powerhouse force cofounded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown. The BCJO presents a variety of music from big band literature and features some of the District's best musicians. Music from Ellington, Basie, Strayhorn, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Maria Schneider and originals by band members will embrace and challenge the tradition of big band repertoire.
