BOSTON: LASZLO GARDONY QUARTET AT THE REGATTABAR

The Laszlo Gardony Quartet (Laszlo Gardony, piano, composer, arranger; Stan Strickland, vocals, saxophone, flute, bass clarinet; Yoron Israel, drums; and John Lockwood, bass) will perform at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Wednesday, February 12th at 7:30 pm. Laszlo Gardony is a critically acclaimed artist who has brought his soulful improvisations and compositions to audiences in 25 countries. Winner of the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, Gardony has been called "a pianist worthy of praise within the highest pantheon of performers" by Jazz Review.com and "a great pianist" by Dave Brubeck. He has released 10 albums, leading groups that included Dave Holland, Miroslav Vitous, Mick Goodrick, Jamey Haddad, Bob Moses, Yoron Israel, John Lockwood among others. Gardony has been living in Boston for the past thirty years, where he is a Professor of Piano at Berklee College of Music. There is a $20 cover.

TORONTO: SOUL NANNIES: R&B, FUNK AND SOUL

Andrew Craig Productions presents Soul Nannies at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Wednesdays, with sets from 8:00 to 11:00 pm. A brand-new 9 piece band, presenting you the very best in 1960•s and '70•s, R&B, Funk and Soul featuring performers: Andrew Craig, Gavin Hope, Krystle Blue, Anthony Brancati, Bryan Humphreys, Rich Grossman, Brooksey Brooks, Andrew Stewart, and Mackie Langford. Performing jazz of all Dimensions: Jazz, Funk, and Fusion with a touch of R&B. Doors Wide Open will take you on a musical journey through time and genres of music that will leave you wanting more. FLORIDA: CLINT HOLMES AT THE ROYAL ROOM

Clint Holmes returns to THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) on Tuesday through Saturday, February 11th through 15th at 8:30 pm. Clint Holmes is more than a singer. His powerful voice and magnetic stage presence embrace the upbeat side of life. His first break came when Joan Rivers invited him to be her sidekick and announcer on the now defunct The Late Show. This was followed by a two-year stint on Entertainment Tonight for which he served as their musical feature and event correspondent, and later landed his own Emmy winning talk/variety show entitled, New York at Night. Among his various recordings are the Top Ten smash hit Playground In My Mind (My Name is Michael). $130 for prix fixe dinner & show; $65 for show only. Friday, VALENTINE'S DAY: $150 for prix fixe dinner & show.

LOS ANGELES: JANIS MANN & RAYMOND De FELITTA AT THE GARDENIA

Janis Mann and Raymond De Felitta perform at THE GARDENIA(7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Wednesday, February 12th at 9:00 pm. A true jazz singer in the manner of Carmen McRae, Betty Carter, and Shirley Horn, Miss Mann possesses a rich timbre, flexibility, and range which often invites comparisons to Sarah Vaughan. A striking song stylist and fearless improviser, she often appears on stage with jazz legend Diane Schuur, and her latest CD, Celestial Anomaly, with pianist Kenny Werner, has been on the JazzWeek national radio charts for several months. Mr. De Felitta is an accomplished jazz pianist and independent filmmaker, whose work as a writer and director has been shown and honored around the world, including at the festivals in Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Tribeca (New York,) South By Southwest (Austin,) and Milan. His award-winning documentary about singer Jackie Paris, 'Tis Autumn, has toured festivals nationwide. City Island, which De Felitta wrote and directed, stars Andy Garcia, Julianna Margulies, Emily Mortimer, Steven Strait, and Alan Arkin, and premiered in the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival where it won the coveted Audience Award.
