NYC: SUNDAY JAZZ BRUNCH WITH GABRIELLE STRAVELLI
Bistro Award winning vocalist, Gabrielle Stravelli, returns with her Sunday Jazz Brunch on August 11th at LE PESCADEUX(90 Thompson Street, NYC - 212-966-0021), a French restaurant in the heart of Soho. They will play three sets from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be joined by Saul Rubin on guitar and Pat O'Leary on bass in this charming boite that offers a great, well-priced menu and cozy atmosphere. Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards by artists as varied as Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington, Dolly Parton and Johnny Mercer. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric. Gabrielle has performed on stages from Amsterdam to New York including Carnegie Hall, Iridium Jazz Club, Birdland, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Reservations are strongly suggested. No cover, no minimum.
NYC: WHO DAT! SUNDAY MARDI GRAS BRUNCH AT THE BLUE NOTE
The New Orleans Swamp Donkeys Traditional Jass Band will present a Sunday Mardi Gras Brunch atTHE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Sunday, February 9th starting at 11:30 am. The Swamp Donkeys play traditional jazz, blues, jass originals, vaudeville, modern jazz adaptations, and many other jazz and New Orleans-derived styles. They are extremely versatile. They have beginnings and educations in the authentic, New Orleans, grassroots music scene, playing local festivals and second lines, then growth into world-class music education programs, playing in concerts across the country. Their diverse sound is enormously accessible with their frontmen, the Louis Armstrong-sounding James Williams, and the audience-wooing, banjo-strumming Sam Friend. (Though James does plenty of audience-wooing himself!). There is a $29.50 cover - Price includes brunch, music and a drink.
TORONTO: YOUNG ARTIST BRUNCH SERIES: ANDREW McANSH DUO
The Andrew McAnsh Duo performs at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, February 9th at 12:30 pm as part of the club's Young Artist Brunch Series. Andrew McAnsh's musical life began when he was given a set of drums for his 10th birthday. He practised under his father's direction, and the trumpet soon followed as he quickly established himself in the musical community of his hometown, Cambridge, Ontario. He then began playing and hosting festivals and events in his teenage years in the Waterloo area, on both trumpet and drums. After leaving his hometown, Andrew attended Humber College, playing in the top studio ensembles under the direction of Pat LaBarbera, Denny Christianson, Brian O'Kane and Al Kay; at Humber he has had the chance to perform with world-class musicians such as Chris Potter, Dave Holland, Terence Blanchard, Jack DeJohnette and the LaBarbera brothers. No cover.

James Lent & James Mooney present The Broadway Brunch at DONT TELL MAMA LA (8279 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-380-7209 ) on Sundays December 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th with seatings at 11:30 am & 1:00 pm. The brunch features LA's Brightest singing Broadway's Best. There is no cover - 2 drink minimum or brunch.
