Kim Waters will perform atBLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday through Sunday, February 20th through 23rd with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Kim has enjoyed a career longevity that is rare in the music business. For close to two decades the saxophonist, composer and producer has been one of the premier architects of Urban Smooth Jazz and a beacon of light in contemporary jazz. He has garnered praise from critics and fans alike, amassing record sales of over a million albums and ranks among the top five best-selling instrumentalists in jazz. MARYLAND: ANDY POXON BAND & DAVE CHAPPELL BAND
The Andy Poxon Band & Dave Chappell Band will perform atBETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Thursday, February 20th at 7:30 pm. Nineteen year-old Andy Poxon has been performing in and around the greater Washington D.C. area with his band, the Andy Poxon Band, and others since 2009. His first album,Red Roots, was released in 2011 at the age of 16, containing a mixture of Americana incorporating heavy doses of the blues, rockabilly, soul and jazz. Andy's latest release, Tomorrow was released in March 2013 and showcases the major evolution in Andy's creative development. The 14-song CD was produced by Duke Robillard who hired his top-notch rhythm section and the Roomful of Blues horn section. The band builds a solid foundation for the young guitarist, as he sings and plays his way through an amazing set of blues, rock 'n' roll, classic soul, jazz, southern rock and more. Andy wrote every song except the last one, Jammin' At Lakewest, a swinging instrumental co-written by Robillard. Andy has been nominated for several Washington Area Music Awards and in 2013 was nominated for the Blues Blast Magazine Sean Costello Rising Star Award. Andy plays to sold out audiences all along the East Coast and up into Canada. There is a $10 cover.
FLORIDA: REGIS PHILBIN MAKES ROYAL ROOM DEBUT
Regis Philbin makes his club debut at THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL(155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) on Tuesday through Saturday, February 18th through 22nd at 8:30 pm. A beloved TV personality known for his emotional outbursts and uniquely inflected speech, Regis Philbin first came to national prominence as Joey Bishop's sidekick on the comedian's eponymous late-1960s talk show. It took another decade of various on-air gigs before Philbin hit it big as the host of WABC's local Manhattan morning show in 1983. Kathie Lee Gifford joined him as co-host in 1985, and in 1988 their series, renamed Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, went into national syndication and turned them into superstars. Over the years, Philbin was tapped to host a number of other shows (Walt Disney specials, prime-time game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire) and appeared as himself in countless movies and television shows. He also weathered Gifford's 2000 departure and found great chemistry with her replacement, Kelly Ripa.
