NYC: SUNDAY JAZZ BRUNCH WITH GABRIELLE STRAVELLI
Bistro Award winning vocalist, Gabrielle Stravelli, returns with her Sunday Jazz Brunch on August 11th at LE PESCADEUX (90 Thompson Street, NYC - 212-966-0021), a French restaurant in the heart of Soho. They will play three sets from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. She will be joined by Saul Rubin on guitar and Pat O'Leary on bass in this charming boite that offers a great, well-priced menu and cozy atmosphere. Award-winning vocalist Gabrielle Stravelli has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal following through her unique take on material from the new American songbook as well as classic standards by artists as varied as Pink Floyd and Duke Ellington, Dolly Parton and Johnny Mercer. A trained actor, Gabrielle has a soulful sensitivity for the story in the lyric. Gabrielle has performed on stages from Amsterdam to New York including Carnegie Hall, Iridium Jazz Club, Birdland, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Reservations are strongly suggested. No cover, no minimum.
NYC: WHO DAT! SUNDAY MARDI GRAS BRUNCH: JASON PROVER & THE SNEAK THIEVERY ORCHESTRA
Jason Prover & The Sneak Thievery Orchestra present 'Who Dat! Sunday Mardi Gras Brunch' at THE BLUE NOTE(131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-85920 on Sunday, February 16th at 11:30 am. Specializing in the hot and sweet music of the Jazz Age, folk music, and the blues, Jason Prover and his Sneak Thievery Orchestra have become one of New York City's most sought after ensembles. The Orchestra recently played the world famous Blue Note Jazz Club to a packed house. Much of the ensemble's repertoire is derived from the lineage of masters such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong, and Bix Beiderbecke amongst others. TORONTO: YOUNG ARTIST BRUNCH SERIES: LIAM MITRO DUO
THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-52990 presents Liam Mitro on Sunday, February 16th at 12:30 pm as part of the club's Young Artist Brunch Series. Born and raised in and around the greater Toronto area, Liam Mitro was exposed to music at a young age through his enrolment in the Humber College Community School. During his 6 years of studying saxophone and creative music at Humber, Liamhoned his craft and artistry with some of Canada's leading jazz musicians. Upon completion of high school and the community program, he chose to study music at Humber College. Currently in his third year of the program, Liam has studied with the likes of Andy Ballantyne, Kirk MacDonald and Geoff Young, and has been playing in the Humber Studio Jazz Ensemble for the past two years. He has won numerous scholarships and awards. In his continuing studies, Liam is exploring the world of composition while leading and participating in many creative projects, which perform regularly around Toronto. There is no cover charge.
