SF: LINDA KOSUT WITH A BRAND NEW SHOW
San Francisco songstress Linda Kosut will present a workshop performances of a brand new show she is developing, THE JOHNNY GREEN SONGBOOK, on Sunday, August 25th at 4:00 pm at THE PIEDMONT PIANO COMPANY (1728 San Pablo Avenue, Oakland, CA - 510-547-8188 - http://piedmontpiano.com). She will be joined on stage by the Mike Greensill Trio. Most folks know some of Green's work, including "Body and Soul" (the #1 song on the Jazz Standards Charts), "I Cover the Waterfront", "Coquette" and a few others but might not be aware of his name or the breadth of his body of work and expansive career in Hollywood and stage. He's written 100+ songs, won 5 Academy Awards for Musical Scores, was head of the MGM Orchestra, etc. Linda's research for this show resulted in her having one of the larger collections of his material, over 80 songs. Only a handful have ever been recorded; the bulk are unknown gems for the Great American Songbook. The trio is composed of musical director, the creative Mike Greensill, bassist extraordinaire Tom Shader, and one of the classiest drummers around, Alan Hall.
