CABARET TONIGHT IN DC: FEDERICO PENA AT BOHEMIAN CAVERNS
Uruguayan-born, Argentine-bred, world travelled and DC based pianist/ keyboardist/ composer Federico [Gonzalez] Pena brings his 'Emergence' Quartet to BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Friday & Saturday, August 30th & 31st at 8:30 & 10:30 pm. Blessed with imaginative musicality and uncanny versatility, Pena is the bearer of an eclectic musical perspective. His South American roots ever present - weaving moods through introspective ballads or making the beat dance and lean on the funk - Federico's ethereal music showcases improvisation informed by a kind of jazz sensibility that keeps the music fresh, interesting and engaging. Rounding out the Quartet are Alfredo Mojica (perc.), Romeir Mendez (bass), Corey Fonville & Quincy Phillips (drums, respectively on Fri. & Sat.). There is a $23 cover.
