It's Official: THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) announced yesterday that the Guinness World Records, pronounced, after reviewing the many documents, videos and photos, and witnesses', timekeepers' and stewards' accounts, that Metropolitan Room and all participants involved are now part of the NEW WORLD RECORD FOR THE LONGEST VARIETY SHOW, EVER! Congrats to all the participants.
BY THE WAY - nothing to do with Guinness - the METROPOLITAN ROOM has a new show-time menu - check it out on their website!!! I can't wait to get there (I'm planning this weekend if I can find a clean pair of long underwear).
FROM NYC: Way back in 1982 (8 years BC - 8 years before CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE) DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) opened in the Manhattan Theater District. Two legendary cabaret stars opened the room - Karen Mason and the late Nancy LaMott. And now, 32 years later, Karen Mason returns for MARCH IS CABARET MONTH with her show MASON at MAMA'S in MARCH! Karen's new show features fresh arrangements of classics, new songs and music she and her longtime composer/ arranger Brian Lasser performed in the early days at Mama's. Musical Director is Christopher Denny and the show is directed by Barry Kleinbort. Karen will perform every Sunday and Monday in March starting on Sunday, March 1st. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
FROM SEATTLE, WA: The PNW (Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association) that Seattle's "March is Cabaret Month 2015", now in it's 8th year, will be hosted by Arnaldo Drag Chanteuse and held at EGAN'S IN BALLARD JAMHOUSE (1707 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA - 206-789-1621) every Saturday in March with shows at 7:00 & 9:00 pm (with additional Fridays in March if necessary). FROM NYC: Jazz headliner Carol Fredette and Tony Award-winning actress and singer Lillias White will be among the eleven performers honored at the 30th Annual Bistro Awards gala, which recognizes outstanding achievement in New York cabaret, jazz, and comedy. The celebration will take place on Wednesday, March 4, at 6:30 pm at GOTHAM COMEDY CLUB (208 West 23rd Street, NYC - 212-367-9000). Premium Tickets are $135, which includes the pre-show Champagne reception, priority seating, and the ticket-buyers' names listed in the program; General Admission tickets are $80. Ticket-buyers in both categories are invited to the "After Bistros" supper party as guests of the Bistros. Show-only tickets are available at $70. A two-drink minimum applies to all ticket categories.
