LONDON: LILIANE MONTEVECCHI AT THE CRAZY COQS
The legendary French actress, dancer and singer Liliane Montevecchi makes her debut at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) with her stunning show Paris On The Thames - the story of Montevecchi's life from her Follies Bergere ballet days to Hollywood and Broadway. Her illustrious career began as a prima ballerina in Roland Petit's dance company, but Montevecchi is perhaps best known for her Tony Award and Drama Desk Award winning role in Tommy Tune's Nine, when she won the Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She then went on to earn a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in Grand Hotel. Later she appeared in films with Elvis Presley, Marlon Brando, Fred Astaire and Matthew McConaughey. She starred in musicals Irma La Douce, Gigi and Hello Dolly and La Plume de Ma Tante. Montevecchi has appeared in concert at Carnegie Hall and The Lincoln Center and toured internationally with her semi-autobiographical shows On the Boulevard and Back on the Boulevards. LONDON: LATE NIGHT WITN ROBIN PHILLIPS AT THE CRAZY COQS
Robin Phillips' passionate performances are as informative as they are engaging and make for an exciting introduction to the late-night jazz line-up at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) for 2015 on Saturday, February 28th at 10:30 pm. Phillips is emerging as one of the UK's leading jazz singer pianists, With Matt Skelton on drums and Joel Humann on upright bass, this energetic trio hark back to a golden age of jazz, whilst maintaining a distinctly modern edge. Inspired by singer / instrumentalists such as Harry Connick Jr and Chet Baker, and jazz vocalists such as Mark Murphy, Mel Torme and Jon Hendricks, Robin's current passion is unearthing the lost introductions to many of the classic jazz standards. The trio will be performing a collection of classic and lesser known jazz standards, many re-arranged with a modern feel, including material from Robin's two previous albums.
