WASHINGTON, DC: ANGELA WINBUSH AT BLUES ALLEY

Angela Winbush, a "three-hyphen" musician (producer- arranger-composer-performer) will perform at BLUES ALLEY(1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Thursday through Saturday, February 26th through 28th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Originally part of the duo Rene and Angela, and is still around today, creating enveloping tracks with layers of keyboards, gorgeous melodic hooks and lush vocals. Winbush has a powerful voice, an exceptional range and a unique style, she started out as a backup singer for Stevie Wonder. She's one of a handful of women in her generation - along with Patrice Rushen and Brenda Russell - who produced not only their own material but also other artists', working extensively with, among others, the Isley Brothers. Winbush has had a long list of career accomplishments. She is the rare female African-American producer-writer and has worked with Janet Jackson, Sheena Easton and Stephanie Mills. Winbush also scored top 10 hits with "Your Smile," "You Don't Have to Cry," "My First Love" and "Save Your Love (for #1)." Acts including Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Nas, Foxy Brown and Avant have embraced her music. There is a $43 cover.

BETHESDA, MD: CATHY PONTON KING BAND FEATURING TRUMPETER CURTIS POPE

The Cathy Ponton King Band featuring trumpeter Curtis Pope performs at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS (2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Thursday, February 26th at 7:30 pm. Cathy Ponton King was born in Washington DC and grew up in an Irish neighborhood in nearby Hyattsville, Maryland. She got her first guitar at age 10, and was soon being paid to sing at Irish concerts and events. In the 1960s, the rock and roots-based blues explosion caught her ear and she began to play all kinds of music. Cathy met Muddy Waters at a sold-out show at the Cellar Door in Washington, DC. Muddy's influence was deep and unforgettable, and Cathy soon started an electric blues band of her own called the Rhythmasters, which toured extensively along the U. east coast from 1980 to 1986. She has jammed with or opened for a veritable who's who of the blues. In 1987, Cathy left the Rhythmasters to front her own band, releasing her critically-acclaimed CD Lovin' You Right. There is a $10 cover.

PALM BEACH, FL: THE ROYAL ROOM CABARET PRESENTS CHRISTINE EBERSOLE

THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) presents Broadway's Christine Ebersole on Tuesday through Saturday, February 24th through 28th at 8:00 pm. For over 30 years, two-time Tony Award winning actress, Christine Ebersole has captivated audiences on the Broadway stage, television series and specials, films, concert appearances, and recordings. The winner of the 2007 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in Grey Gardens, Ms. Ebersole knocked-out audiences and reviewers alike with her performances in such stage hits as I Love My Wife, On the Twentieth Century with Kevin Kline and Imogene Coca, Camelot with Richard Burton, Chekhov's The Three Sisters with Diane Wiest and Sam Waterston, and 42nd Street, for which she won her first Tony in 2001. Her film credits include Amadeus, Tootsie, Dead Again, My Girl 2 and 'Til There was You; and on TV she was a member of the cast of Saturday Night Live during the 1981-82 season and has appeared in Boston Legal, Will and Grace, Crossing Jordan, Ally McBeal and Murphy Brown. Her hit albums include Christine Ebersole Sings Noel Coward, Sunday in New York and In Your Dreams (the last two with Billy Stritch). She can currently be seen co-starring in the sitcom Sullivan and Son on TBS. or each guest there will be a $85 cover charge Tuesday through Thursday, and a $100 cover charge on Friday Saturday, plus a $20 minimum for food and beverage; $105 cover charge for premium seating on Tuesday through Thursday and $120 on Friday and Saturday.
