Jazz/ cabaret vocalist Mary Foster Conklin performs on Friday nights at MOSCOW57 ON DELANCEY (168 1/2 Delancey Street, NYC - 212-260-5775) at 8:00 pm. on Friday, January 30th the club celebrated its one year anniversary on the corner where Loisaida meets the Williamsburg Bridge. Owned by Ellen Kaye, singer/ pioneer/ force of nature, who nightly hosts the best party in town with a rotating group of artistsecalls it Hobohemia - A Rendezvous of Strangers. Dorothy Bishop brings her 'Dozen Divas Show to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Friday, February 27th at 9:30 pm. The show is directed by John Paolillo and written by Dorothy Bishop and James Jorden. A Yale trained soprano, Dorothy's incredible versatility and outrageous sense of humor landed her as a finalist on America's got Talent Season 4. She has headlined and emcee'd events all over the world including Soloist at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops, First Broadway National Tour of Master Class (Starring Faye Dunaway) Her own headline act (Viva la Diva) on the world's top luxury liners - Queen Mary 2, Royal Caribbean, Regent Seven Seas, and is presently touring with her own musical comedy The Dozen Divas Show. Distorted Diznee is an outrageous Las Vegas-style parody revue of some of America's most beloved animated classics presented on Fridays at 10:00 pm at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). Be Part of Our World as a troupe of fabulous drag queens, including Holly Dae, Bootsie LeFaris, Pixie Aventura, Brenda Dharling and Bob The Drag Queen, takes you on a twisted - and very adult - journey, catapulting you back to your childhood into a Magical Kingdom where dreams come true. NYC: CECILIA CORRIGAN'S "THE COLDEST PRINCESS WAVE"
NYPAC (New York Performance Artists Collective) presents Cecilia Corrigan's "The Coldest Princess Wave" at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Friday, February 27th at 7:00 pm. The show promises to be a lush night of comedy out of the darkness of winter. Hosted by comic poet / showgirl Cecilia Corrigan and featuring special celebrity guests, including living Bushwick Barbie Doll Macy Rodman. Cecilia Corrigan has debuted her performances in New York and Los Angeles. Her debut book, Titanic (Northwestern University Press, 2014), was awarded the Madeleine P. Plonsker Prize for a first book, and appeared on two of Flavorwires "Books of the Year" lists for 2014, for academic press and poetry titles. She has previously worked on HBO's Luck, for show-runner David Milch, and recently completed her first feature screenplay. In addition to writing for television, film, and theater, she has published fiction in n+1 & elsewhere, and performs stand up comedy. NYPAC, the New York Performance Artists Collective, is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the production, accessibility, and scholarship of performative and intermedia art. NYC: PAULO SZOT SALUTES FRANK SINATRA & JOBIM AT 54 BELOW
Brazilian opera star Paul Szot celebrates the centennial of Frank Sinatra with a program of songs from his 1967 and 1969 sessions with Brazilian singer/songwriter Tom Jobim at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Tuesday through Saturday, February 24th through 28th at 7:00 pm - with an additional late show on Saturday, February 28th at 9:30 pm. In this brand new show, audiences can prepare to swoon as the Tony-winning star of South Pacific headlines for this limited 5-night engagement. In the show, Szot includes songs from Girl From Ipanema, Wave to Desafinado. Paulo lends his extraordinary voice to Tom Jobim songs chosen by Sinatra during their magical encounter 45 years ago. Jersey born and raised, Jessica Vosk will perform at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Friday, February 27th at 9:30 pm. Jessica started her crazy career on Wall Street and ended up in The Bridges of Madison County, with pit stops in the Grammy-nominated West Side Story, Merrily We Roll Along and Company. In her debut NYC solo show, Jessica just wants to throw a big ol' party. Jessica offers an eclectic evening of songs, hilarity, a swear jar and some very special guest stars: two-time Tony nominee Martha Plimpton and Drama Desk winner Andrea Burns, plus a surprise multiple Tony nominee.
