NYC: BARB JUNGR: HARD RAIN AT 59E59
Barb Jungr: Hard Rain, the songs of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, will be performed at 59E59 THEATERS (59 East 59th Street, NYC - 212-279-4200) on Tuesday through Sunday, October 28th through November 9th. Showtimes vary so please check the website - . Ms Jungr will be accompanied on piano by Tracy Stark and on percussion by Mike Lunoe. Acclaimed singer Barb Jungr continues to bring the American Songbook into the 21st Century in this new show, breathing new life into the music of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, arguably the best folk/pop songwriters of their generation. The political and philosophical songs by these two music icons make up her hardest hitting set to date. With a song list that includes Masters of War, Hard Rain and Blowing in the Wind, Jungr's celebrated interpretations allow these songs to be heard in brand new ways. There is a $35 cover. Sarah Ferro returns to the New York cabaret scene with her new show Autumn in New York, which will be presented on Saturday, November 8th at 7:00 pm at THE DUPLEX CABARETTHEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438). Musical director is pianist Heather Hamilton. From Standards to Weimer to Folk, Sarah brings a colorful palette of songs from cherished songwriters such as Kander & Ebb, Sammy Cahn, Kurt Weill and Harry Chapin, during her favorite time of year. Tribute artist Athena Reich stars as Lady Gaga in #ARTBIRTH, an outrageous evening of art and pop at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturday, November 8th and Friday, November 14th at 7:00 pm. The show is co-written and directed by Jack Trinco. #ARTBIRTH combines vaudevillian comedy with ARTPOP outrageousness. The premise is that Lady Gaga is pregnant and she has decided to give birth in front of her most devoted fans - the ultimate performance art piece. For her show 'A Touch of Class', she will be joined on stage by Music Director Barry Levitt, Howie Gordon on drums, John DiPinto on accordion and Jon Burr on bass. NYC: PATTI LUPONE - FAR AWAY PLACES PART TWO
Two-time Tony Award winner and 54 Below favorite Patti LuPone returns to 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Monday through Thursday, November 3rd through 6th; Saturday, November 8th; Monday through Saturday, November 10th through 15th, all shows at 7:00 pm; There is an additional show added on Saturday, November 15th at 9:30 pm. She will present 'Part Two of Far Away Places', the show which she premiered to critical acclaim when 54 Below opened in June 2012. In this continuation of the show (which will include a few encores from the landmark Part One) she further explores her wanderlust, performing songs by an eclectic group of songwriters including Irving Caesar, Billy Joel, David Yazbek, Johnny Mercer and Kris Kristofferson.
