NYC: HAROLD SANDITEN BRINGS FLYIN' HIGH TO NEW YORK

Harold Sanditen, the versatile performer who hosts the popular Crazy Coqs open mic in London, will perform the US premi•re of his newest show, FLYIN' HIGH, at the THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, October 6th at 7:00 pm. FLYIN' HIGH was first seen at London's Crazy Coqs last May. Harold is an intrepid traveller, having visited 65 countries and counting. In this new show he explores the comic side of travel, from Albuquerque to the Zambezi, with songs ranging from Bacharach to Jobim to Weill. He'll be joined on stage by his UK accompanist and arranger, Michael Roulston, along with New York's Tom Hubbard on bass. Barry Kleinbort directs. In 2013 Harold made his professional theatrical debut in London's West End in CAFE SOCIETY SWING, playing the role of the late real-life impresario, Barney Josephson. He later packed out the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in a November concert, and he'll return there this year for what is scheduled to be an annual Thanksgiving weekend event. He will be touring FLYIN' HIGH to California in April, 2015. American born, and London based since 1987, Sanditen began his cabaret career in 2008, after 20 years as a UK-based theatre producer. Since then, he has devised and performed six cabaret shows in as many years, which have played to full houses from London to LA, and has also released 2 CDs. Call for cover/minimum information.

NYC: BARRET IS BACK ON RESTAURANT ROW 

Chris Barrett returns to LA RIVISTA RISTORANTE (313 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-366-4603) on Monday, May 19th, where he will be at the piano Mondays through Wednesdays. There are two shows nightly, a dinner show at 8:00 and a supper show at 10:00 pm. Chris Barrett's performances are in the tradition of the great late-night boites of a fondly remembered era, when the likes of Hugh Shannon, Bobby Short, and Buddy Barnes manned the keyboard. There is no cover charge

The Open mic night hosted by Sarah Rice & Craig Pomranz on Thursdays on the Upper West Side has changed it's shownight! BROADWAY SINGS AT THE WEST END will now be held every MONDAY night,at THE WEST END(955 West End Avenue, NYC - 212-531-4759) from 7:00 to 9:00 pm (signup after 6:30 pm). An open mic with multi-award winning hosts Sarah and Craig bring the ultimate New York experience to the Upper West Side with all kinds of talent singing all genres of music -Broadway, Pop, Jazz, Classical, all are welcomed. There is a $7 cover - no minimum

NYC: NICKY GAYNER'S EMPTY NEST AT THE MET

London's Nicky Gayner brings her show 'Empty Next' to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Monday, October 6th at 9:30 pm. Sarah-Louise Young directs, with Michael Roulston as musical director. The show is an uplifting musical cabaret about life after the children have flown the nest. Empty Nest takes the audience on a mother's voyage of rediscovery, weaving together the joys and trials of raising a child and examining the future a woman faces after her children have left home. Nicky Gayner, has turned 50 and after 20 years of parenting, this experienced London based cabaret singer brings her first full solo show to the Metropolitan Room in New York. Using songs and stories from her own life in a heart-warming hour, directed by Sarah-Louise Young (Julie Madly Deeply, Fascinating Aida), Nicky's show also highlights what new challenges there are for a woman and a mother at this stage in her life. In London she has performed at classic venues such as The Vortex, The Pheasantry and The Crazy Coqs and now brings her Empty Nest show to New York for her USA debut. 

NYC: JASON DAUNTER: BECAUSE I WANT TO!

Broadway Stage Manager Jason Daunter tells the whole story - from Cue-light to Spotlight - at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Sunday, October 5th at 9:30 pm and Monday, October 6th at 7:00 pm. Jason comes center stage in this cabaret celebrating his life and times in New York and on the road with some of the Great White Ways' biggest musicals. He will be joined by a four piece band and 3 "wickedly" talented divas. There is a $25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum. 

NYC: PAMELA BOB AT 54 BELOW

Pamela Bob, of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, performs in a theatrical evening featuring the unusual and dynamic songs of Ellen Mandel and Michael Lydon on Monday, October 6th at 9:30 pm at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) . She will present songs from jazzy ballads to lyrical settings of modern poetry, with a bit of bluesy funk for good measure. With Ellen Mandel on piano, Michael Lydon on guitar, and Pamela on vocals and ukulele, the group has performed several times downtown in NYC at the Cornelia Street Cafe, and on the New Gallery Concert Series in Boston. The performance will be directed by DJ Salisbury. Ellen Mandel has composed music for over sixty plays for the Mint, Jean Cocteau Rep, Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, and Riverside Shakespeare in New York, and many regionals. She has written five film scores, and recorded four CDs of her songs. Michael Lydon, a pioneering rock writer and founding editor of Rolling Stone Magazine, interviewed Janis Joplin, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, B.B. King, and wrote Ray Charles: Man and Music, the definitive biography of the Genius. He is an East Village songwriter, whose forte is writing delicious jazzy tunes that inspire comparisons to classics from the American Songbook. There is a $25-$35 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum. 

NYC: DINE & DANCE WITH VINCE GIORDANO AND THE NIGHTHAWKS - NOW AT THE IGUANA

Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks are back - and now will play every Monday & Tuesday night from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at at IGUANA'S VIP LOUNGE (240 West 54th Street, NYC - 212-765-5454). Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks is an eleven-piece band playing music of the 1920s & 30s for your dining and dancing pleasure. In 1976 Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks (originally known as the New Orleans Nighthawks) was formed. A big-band historian and collector, Giordano has more than 60,000 scores in his collection. There is a $15 cover (at the door) plus a $15 food drink minimum.
