NYC: MARCUS SIMEONE WITH THE TRUTH ABOUT ...

Multi-award winning singer Marcus Simeone will return to his cabaret roots at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) - where he made his cabaret debut in 2001 - for five special shows: Saturdays-, September 20th; Sunday, October 5th; and Saturdays, October 18th, November 22nd and December 20th, all shows at 7:00 pm. The new shows will celebrate the 2014 release of his latest album, "The Truth About ..." on the Miranda Music label. Joining Marcus for several evenings will be the popular and award winning Carolyn Montgonmery-Forant who returns to the cabaret scene after a family hiatus. Multi-award winner Tracy Stark will serve as music director along with acclaimed bassist Marco Brehm. For this special engagement, Marcus has also invited several cabaret friends as special guests. These include: Tim DiPasqua, Brett Kristofferson, Sue Matsuki, Maria Ottavia, Greg Kay Jones & Carolyn Montgomery-Forant . The last show will benefit the Gregory Kennell Fund with a surprise guest. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: JASON DAUNTER: BECAUSE I WANT TO!

Broadway Stage Manager Jason Daunter tells the whole story - from Cue-light to Spotlight - at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Sunday, October 5th at 9:30 pm and Monday, October 6th at 7:00 pm. Jason comes center stage in this cabaret celebrating his life and times in New York and on the road with some of the Great White Ways' biggest musicals. He will be joined by a four piece band and 3 "wickedly" talented divas. There is a $25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum. 

NYC: A DIFFERENT "KIND" OF VARIETY SHOW

A Different "Kind" of Variety Show will be presented at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 5th at 3:00 pm. The event is a 'friendraiser' and benefit for FamilyKind, a child-focused organization helping children, parents and couples cope with separation and divorce; and Gotham Comedy Foundation, an organization providing humor therapy to the sick, aged, and lonely. Both organizations are 501(c)(3) nonprofits. Performers appearing in the show include Metropolitan Opera Tenor Michael Forest, Comedian Nancy Lombardo and Cabaret/Theater performer Rachel Hunter. There is a $35 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: WREN MARIE HARRINGTON CD RELEASE PARTY

Wren Marie Harrington will celebrate the release of her new CD 'Light Travels - A Global Journey in Song' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Sunday, October 5th at 9:30 pm. Harrington is that relatively rare breed of musical performer, equally adept in opera, musical theatre and more recently Latin jazz/world beat. In her new recording, Light Travels, she explores the riches of popular Latin American, Brazilian, Italian and American classics from the 1930s, 40s and 50s with the subtle blending of diverse musical elements. The result is a virtual tapestry of song gems, unconfined by idiom or country. Joining her on stage is arranger/ producer/ jazz pianist Art Bailey, a wunderkind on the improvised and world scene. Mr. Bailey has skillfully fused a variety of musical genres into a well-woven tapestry which explodes with color and light. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: TONY DESARE - NIGHTLIFE

Acclaimed vocalist Tony DeSare returns to 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Tuesday, September 30th & Wednesday, October 1st, and Thursday through through Sunday, October 3rd through 5th with a brand new show: Night Life with performances each night at 7:00 pm. The postmodern version of the classic, elegant New York night club of the 1950's show will be brought to life in one of the only New York City night clubs left that still truly captures that ambiance. Tony DeSare's new show will explore some of the most hauntingly beautiful and memorable melodies ever written, both old and new, plus a few new DeSare originals. From Cole Porter and Duke Ellington to Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Willie Nelson, the only requirement is a sophisticated, romantic and swinging melody. Add in a martini or two and you have the quintessential night out on the town. Featuring Tony's quartet led by Tedd Firth on piano with Edward Decker on guitar, Steve Doyle on bass and Michael Klopp on drums. There is a $30-$70 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

NYC: BROADWAY LOVES LEN: CARIOU AT 75

54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) presents 'Broadway Loves Len: Cariou At 75' on Sunday, October 5th at 9:30 pm. A bevy of Broadway's best honor this great gentlemen of Broadway on the occasion of his 75th birthday, including appearances from James Earl Jones, Nathan Lane, Betty Buckley, Liz & Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Robertson, Veanne Cox, Lee Roy Reams, Sarah Rice & many more! From his Tony award-winning role in Sweeney Todd to his creation of roles in A Little Night Music, Applause & Dance a Little Closer among many others, Broadway has been in love with Len for nearly 50 years. Now, 54 Below is delighted to celebrate his 75th year with a star-studded tribute to this great thespian. Expect tributes, musical and otherwise, from some of the many stars who've shared the stage & screen with him, & maybe even a tune from the man of the hour himself! There is a $35-$45 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum. 

NYC: MARK JANAS' SALON: 

SALON - that unique, Multiple Award Winning, Weekly Open Mic Event, created and hosted by Mark Janas at ETCETERA ETCETERA (352 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-399-4141) on Sundays from 7:00 to 10:30 pm (sign-up begins at 6:15 pm) returns on October 5th after a week off. The optional theme for the evening is "War & Peace." Remember, any material, on or off theme, is always welcome at Salon. Guest Host/ Pianist will be Steven Ray Watkins. Co-Hosts will be Dawn Derow & Kathleen France. The Salon Spotlight will feature Jim Speake. There are no reservations; seating is on a first come/ first served basis, with one intermission. On Sunday, October 5th, David will present another 2 hours of recorded songs and live & recorded interviews from the worlds of cabaret & Broadway. This week he will feature the music of Annie Ross.
