Martha Taylor LaCroix, (aka) Marti Lynn, will perform at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Friday & Saturday, October 10th & 11th at 9:00 pm. She began her musical career in New Orleans as vocalist with the Dick Stabile Orchestra, in the Blue Room of the Fairmont Hotel. (The late Dick Stabile was Musical Director for Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, and his orchestra opened for Lou Rawls and Tony Bennett, among others.) She toured Japan and Venezuela with the New Orleans Opera Choirs and the Ronnie Kole Jazz Trio, and has released three recordings, the most recent of which is a collection of jazz classics recorded and produced with legendary pianist and arranger Howlett Smith. Call for cover/minimum information.

SAN FRANCISCO: JOEY ARIAS AT FEINSTEIN'S

Following a sold-out engagement last October, Joey Arias returns to FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063 - ) for one performance only on Friday, October 10th at 8:00 pm with an intimate show for piano and voice featuring his music director and pianist Matt Ray. Ray has served as music director for Arias' sold out residencies at Joe's Pub and resumes this role on Arias' forthcoming Billie Holiday Centennial Concerts in the Spring of 2015. The piano and voice format allows for a high degree of improvisation, allowing these peerless musicians an opportunity to explore the depths of their musical communion. The repertoire includes original songs, unexpected covers and, of course, Arias' signature 'channeling' of Billie Holiday. There is a $25-$40 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.

SAN FRANCISCO: THE STANLEY CLARKE QUARTET AT YOSHI'S

Four-time Grammy Award Winner Stanley Clarke will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600 - ) on Friday through Sunday, October 10th through 12th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Clarke has attained "living legend" status during his over 40-year career as a bass virtuoso. He is the first bassist in history who doubles on acoustic and electric bass with equal ferocity and the first bassist ever to headline tours, selling out shows worldwide. A veteran of over 40 albums, he most recently won the 2011 Best Contemporary Jazz Album Grammy Award for The Stanley Clarke Band. Clarke co-founded the seminal fusion group Return to Forever with Chick Corea and Lenny White. In 2012 Return to Forever won a Grammy Award and Latin Grammy for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Forever. Clarke believes in giving back to help young musicians hone their skills. He and his wife Sofia established The Stanley Clarke Foundation thirteen years ago as a charitable organization, which offers scholarships to talented young musicians each year. There is a $22-$55 cover.
