WASHINGTON, DC: MYCAH CHEVALIER AT BLUES ALLEY
Jazz/blues vocalist Mycah Chevalier performs at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Wednesday, October 8th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Blessed with an irresistible and soulful voice, Mycah's music is in a class all her own. She has shared the stage with noted artists such as Lyfe Jennings, The Whispers, Patti Labelle, Luther Vandross, JaRule, Arturo Sandoval, Ski Johnson, Ray Gaskins & Maysa Leak to name a few. In addition to her debut solo project Roux's Fantasy, she is lead female vocalist for the group guiltypleasures, who's debut single "Anticipation (The Remix)" has been in steady rotation on WHUR 96.3FM's Original Quiet Storm since April 2010, and was deemed a "New Classic" by many. BETHESDA, MD: STEVE FIDYK QUARTET "HEADS UP" CD RELEASE
The Steve Fidyk Quartet will celebrate the release of their new CD 'Heads Up' at BETHESDA BLUES & JAZZ SUPPER CLUB (7719 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD - 240-330-4500) on Wednesday, October 8th at 7:30 pm. Known for his touch, versatility and musical approach, jazz drummer Steve Fidyk has earned national and international acclaim as an artist, author and columnist. Fidyk's newest album, Heads Up! (Posi-Tone, 2014) is a quintet date that features his original arrangements and compositions, along with some covers and two compositions by guitarist Shawn Purcell. Joining Fidyk and Purcell in the band are Terell Stafford on trumpet, Tim War?eld on tenor saxophone, and Regan Brough on bass.A long time student of jazz drumming legend Joe Morello, Fidyk is dedicated and committed to education. Fidyk currently serves on the jazz studies faculty at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, and as a consultant for Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington Program. There is a $15 cover.
