LONDON: STEVEN BRINBERG IS SIMPLY BARBRA
Due to phenomenal demand, Steven Brinberg returns with 'Simply Barbra', to THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) for a 2-week run, Tuesdays through Saturdays, September 16th through 25th at 8:00 pm. The show will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Funny Girl, which opened on Broadway in 1964 and came to London two years later. The internationally acclaimed film version, which was nominated for 8 Tony Awards, followed in 1968. Musical director Nathan Martin and a different West End guest star accompany Brinberg each night. Steven has been acclaimed for his vocal performance of Barbra Streisand all over the world for over a decade. In addition to touring around America, he has played extensively in England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Spain, Mexico and Canada ... more cities then the real Barbra! He has also appeared in numerous symphony concerts with the late Marvin Hamlisch and sang at Stephen Sondheim's birthday concert at the Library of Congress in Washington DC. He has released two CDS Live in London and Duets and has appeared in films such as Camp and Boys Live and in a concert version of Funny Girl on Broadway, featuring Whoopi Goldberg, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. LONDON: MATTHEW VANKAN AT THE CRAZY COQS
Matthew vanKan returns to THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Saturday, September 20th at 10:30 pm as part of the club's Late Night Jazz series. He will be accompanied by his musical director and pianist Gabriel Mantell, exciting new talent Nick Ereaut on double bass, gospel drummer Rueben Harsant and Bombay Bicycle Club regular Dan Berry on tenor sax. Combined with Mantell's eclectic fusion of Gospel, Neo Soul, Funk and Jazz, vanKan sings the songs of Sinatra, Nat King Cole and other entertaining legends with an emphasis on storytelling, subtle vocal nuances and beautiful phrasing.
