TORONTO: DEBBIE FLEMING: SONGS & STORIES

Debbie Fleming performs her show 'Songs & Stories' at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299 - ) on Sunday, September 14th at 7:00 pm. As a Toronto session singer for over three decades, Debbie Fleming has sung on hundreds of TV and radio jingles; she has performed on national TV shows, and has sung backup vocals for numerous artists - Anne Murray, David Clayton Thomas, Petula Clark to name just a few. In 1975, she was nominated for a Juno Award, for her single released on Attic Records entitled "Long Gone", and has since recorded and produced many recordings ranging from country to jazz. Inspired by the rich harmonies of Take 6, Debbie assembled a cappella jazz vocal octet Hampton Avenue in the early 90's, and under her guidance, the group won the Jazz Report Vocal Group of the Year in 1999. These days, she is still singing with the Hampton Avenue - 4 - all original members of Hampton Avenue. She still performs with her jazz trio; guest stars with R&B bands; plays solo concerts with her guitar and uke; sings in the soprano section of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir - and arranges music and vocals for the very successful jazz trio - The Ault Sisters. Debbie will be presenting songs, and the stories behind them, which influenced her as she grew up in the 60's, and bloomed into a very successful vocalist in the Toronto music scene. You'll hear everything from Elvis to some great jazz - with a little accompaniment by her trusty ukulele. Call for cover/minimum information.
