TORONTO: CAT CONNER CD RELEASE AT THE JAZZ BISTRO
Jazz vocalist Cat Conner returns to her hometown and THE JAZZ BISTRO(251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Sunday, September 21st at 7:00 pm to celebrate the release of her second CD, "Cat House." She is accompanied by two of Canada's top players, Bernie Senensky on piano, and Neil Swainson on bass. Cat's luscious voice is at once exciting and comforting, immersed in the emotions of all the ins and outs of love - from first blush to adoption, from regrets to pure joy. With her captivating smile and incisive vocals, she will perform rarely heard songs associated with a diverse mix of jazz legends, including Ellington/Strayhorn, Cahn/Van Heusen, Cole Porter, and Peggy Lee. Cat Conner is a Los Angeles-based jazz singer who got her start in her hometown of Toronto. She performed for many years with some of Canada's renowned jazz musicians, including Peter Appleyard, Eugene Amaro & Don "DT" Thompson. Conner moved to L.A. in 1999 when she put her vocal career aside for several years because of personal difficulties. However, music was never far from her heart, and she became very involved in the Los Angeles jazz scene. Conner was encouraged to return to performing by the legendary woodwind player Gene Cipriano, who is widely regarded as the most recorded musician ever. She revved up her career again and began performing in jazz clubs up and down the California coast, accompanied by jazz greats including Pete Christlieb, Emil Richards, Gary Foster, Gary Smulyan and Don Menza. The new CD, "Cat House," features an all-star band, including John Chiodini, who also wrote the arrangements, Gene Cipriano, Tom Ranier, Joe LaBarbera, Chuck Berghofer, Ron Stout, and Dick Nash. There is a $20 cover.
