Performer/producer, Jason Morris, the 2013 MetroStar 1st Runner Up, returns to THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 ) on Saturday, August 30th at 7:00 pm and Monday, September 22nd at 7:00 pm, with encore performances of his acclaimed new show, Musically Yogic. Musically Yogic plays uniquely as a Yoga class through score, dialoguing the seemingly magical parallels of music and movement, beat and breath as profound energies for transformation. Ancient spiritual science and abundant 21st Century humor meet soaring vocal renditions of Broadway and pop songs in a repertoire that includes "Thank Goodness" (Stephen Schwartz), "To Build A Home" (Cinematic Orchestra), "Pure Imagination" (Bricusse/Newley), "Glitter in the Air" (Pink), and "Who I'd Be" (Tesori/Lindsay-Abaire). Conceived and produced by Jason Morris (a singer and yogi, as you might expect), the show is directed by Julie Reyburn. Musical director is Tracy Stark. Tanya Holt•joins the show in special duet with Jason while Gretchen Reinhagen, Jackie Krystel, Wendy Anne Russell, and Kathleen Stuart appear as backup singers. NYC: RUTHLESS! THE MUSICAL WITH SOPHIA ANNE CARUSO

'Ruthless! The Musical' starring Sophia Anne Caruso, will be presented at STAGE 72 (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590) will open on Friday, September 5th and will play on Fridays, Saturdays & Mondays at 7:00 pm through September 22nd. Like the role she will be playing in a new production of "Ruthless!," the cult-hit musical, Sophia Anne Caruso is a young actress who will do anything to get the part. The triple threat tween will follow in the tap shoes of Laura Bell Bundy ("Hairspray," "Legally Blonde") Britney Spears and Natalie Portman. Before they became stars, all three young actors were cast as the diabolically talented Tina Denmark. Sophia tracked down the creators of the show while they were trying out rewrites for a new Connecticut production, writing to tell them that after having been cast as Tina in regional theatre, one of the principle actors suffered a fatal heart attack during the dress rehearsal. The show never opened. An audition was arranged and the rest is going to be history! Caruso, who appeared with Bernadette Peters in the NBC musical series Smash, will be taking the stage this September in an intimate staged concert production of the award-winning musical that will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Joining Ms. Caruso on stage will be composer, Marvin Laird, who will step into the high heels of the infamous theatrical dame of mystery, Sylvia St. Croix. Because the project is benefiting a cause so close to their hearts, the co-creators want to make this outing particularly memorable, and so for 3 of the 9 performances, Paley will join Laird on stage, reprising his performance as the demented eight-year-old diva. Other cast members include, Kim Maresca as Judy Denmark, Katie Sparer as Miss Thorn/Emily Block, Delaney Arizala as Louise Lerman/Eve•and Rita McKenzie as Lita Encore. There is a $35-$45 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. A portion of the proceeds will go to BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS (http://www.bcefa.org/ ) To get tickets, go to http://ruthlessthemusical.brownpapertickets.com

NYC: MAJOR SCALES' MINOR BREAKDOWN

Pianist/ performer/ man about town Major Scales, co-writer and co-creator of The Vaudevillians with Jinkx Monsoon, returns to THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Monday & Tuesday, September 22nd & 23rd at 9:00 pm to premiere his latest creation, 'MAJOR SCALES' MINOR BREAKDOWN: SONGS NOT READY FOR BROADWAY.' This evening of original songs and stories will run for 2 performances only. The show is an evening of the prolific composer's original songs for his original Broadway shows that have yet to be written. The always-debonair Major Scales will be there to lead you through his ditties, divorced from plot, with a half-smile and half-full Manhattan. Be one of the first to hear these never-before-staged songs in search of a musical! Major Scales is the evil twin of Richard Andriessen, a musician, writer and performer based in Seattle. Richard arranged the music for and starred in MAC nominated, often-extended musical comedy "The Vaudevillians", with RuPaul's Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon. He has written everything from award-winning New York shows on the east coast to music for amateur porn on the west. Call for cover/minimum information.
