LOS ANGELES: SARA STUCKEY MAKES CABARET DEBUT AT THE GARDENIA
Sara Stuckey makes her cabaret debut at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Monday, September 22nd at 9:00 pm. Sara has distinguished herself in the local theatre community with such roles as "Sarah" in Crown City Theatre's Company, "Georgie" in Third Street Theatre's The Full Monty, and award-winning turns as "Tessie Tura" in West Coast Ensemble's Gypsy, "Darlene" in Buttermilk Production's Caught, and "Gwendolyn Pigeon" in the Norris Theatre's production of The Odd Couple. She will be seen this fall on the I.D. Channel in Heartbreakers, starring Judd Nelson and Nicole Eggert, and she is reprising her role as "Cheryl Whitford" in the web series, Split - Season 2. In addition, she will be portraying "Fraulein Schneider" in Crown City Theatre's production of Cabaret, which opens September 25th. Call for cover/minimum information.
LOS ANGELES: A BATTLE FOR SHOWBIZ GLORY!
Broadway's finest go toe to toe in the hilarious competition Broadway Cage Match at ROCKWELL: TABLE & STAGE (1714 Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA - 323-669-1550) on Monday, September 22nd at 8:00 pm. Hosted by Justin Jones and Bruce Merkle, some of the most talented show tune singers around duke it out in interactive performance games involving memorization, rapid-fire costume changes and "screlting," a method of singing wherein the belting out of a given song becomes a high, loud (yet somehow still listenable) scream. You'll want to leave the screaming to the pros, but feel free to cheer your heart out as these vivacious vocalists strap on the gloves and battle for show-biz glory. There is a $15 cover.
SAN FRANCISCO: LISA FISCHER AT YOSHI'S
GRAMMY-winning R&B vocalist & songwriter Lisa Fischer will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Sunday, September 21st with shows at 7:00 & 9:00 pm and Monday, September 22nd at 8:00 pm. Lisa Fischer is a singer who really gets around. Her life is an endless round of planes, trains, and automobiles, rehearsals and fittings. On tour with the Rolling Stones, Sting, Chris Botti or Nine Inch Nails, her name may not be on the marquee, but she doesn't care. She's busy loving every minute of it. It's easy to see why she works all the time: her astonishing range, her spot-on intonation, her mastery of the stage, the way her tone wraps itself around your heart and won't let go, the infectious quality of her time feel: these things keep her on top of the list.
