CABARET TONIGHT IN NYC: RUBY RIMS RETURNS TO THE NYC CABARET STAGE!
Legendary Drag Queen, Ruby Rims returns to the NYC Cabaret Stage for one show only on Friday, June 27th at 8:00 pm at JUDSON MEMORIAL CHURCH (55 Washington Square South, NYC - 212-477-0351). With John McMahon at the piano, Ruby will be vamping, camping, tramping and stamping his way through almost 40 years of PRIDE! He'll be performing the music of Shaiman/Wittman, Kander and Ebb, Alan Menken, Jerry Herman, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Paul Jabara, Sammy Fain, Vicki Sue Robinson and others. Expect visits from Bette Davis and Carol Channing, with a side trip to The Anvil. It's GAY PRIDE from a one-of-a-kind Drag Queen who lived it, loved it, lost it … and then found it again, Mary! Ruby Rims is New York City's longest running female impersonator. A continuous cabaret performer, he is a five-time winner of the MAC Award for best impersonation. Mr. Rims has been seen all over television on such shows as Phil Donahue, Geraldo Rivera, Mid-Day Live With Bill Boggs, P.M. Magazine, and Live at Five. He is also known for "TeddyCare", an organization he founded to bring teddy bears during the December holiday season to children of all ages living with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. In New York theater, he appeared Off-Off Broadway in Dick Gallagher's Have I Got a Girl for You and in Wallace Hamilton's The Queen's Will. He also appeared in Y by Jim Raido and Jerry Ragni, the creators of Hair. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Judson Memorial Church & The Ruby Rims College Grant Fund. There is a $20 cash cover at the door.
