BOSTON: HUMAN FEEL WITH JIM BLACK, ANDREW D'ANGELO, KURT ROSENWINKEL AND CHRIS SPEED
Human Feel, featuring Jim Black, Andrew D'Angelo, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Chris Speed will perform at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757on Wednesday, June 25th at 7:30 pm. Founded in the late 80s by Seattleites Jim Black, Andrew D'Angelo and Chris Speed, they later hooked up with Kurt Rosenwinkel in Boston at Berklee College of Music in the early 90s, and Kurt joined the band from there on. Following the Boston years they all subsequently relocated to New York City, and became mainstays on the "downtown" scene, performing at venues like Knitting Factory & Tonic. They released their 3rd Human Feel album entitled Welcome to Malpesta (New World) in 1994 followed by their album "Speak to it" on Songlines in 1997. Then their individual careers took them in different directions until they reunited again in 2007 for the album "Galore" and some subsequent touring in Europe. Now the band is re-uniting for the first time since "Galore", and are ready to continue the adventure with a new album already recorded at "The Loove" in Brooklyn and to be released June 2014. There is a $25 cover.
TORONTO: TORONTO JAZZ FESTIVAL: IAN SHAW
Ian Shaw will perform at THE JAZZ BISTRO (251 Victoria Street, Toronto, ONT, CA - 416-363-5299) on Wednesday, June 25th at 8:00 pm at part of the Toronto Jazz Festival. Ian Shaw has already amassed a number of highly acclaimed intentionally released albums and is a popular performer both in the UK and the US. He has been cited, along with Mark Murphy and Kurt Elling, as one of the world's finest male jazz vocalists. He was "Best Jazz Vocalist" at the BBC Jazz Awards in 2007 and 2004, and nominated in the Best UK Vocalist category at the JazzFM awards in 2013.
