NYC: CD RELEASE PARTY WITH KAREN OBERLIN & SEAN HARKNESS
Karen Oberlin & Sean Harkness will perform songs from their new Miranda Music CD 'A Wish' at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 ) on Wednesday, June 25th at 9:30 pm. A Wish, like a hope or a dream, whether simple or complex, is always personal. Yet the wishes of two artists can be expressed in one creative project like this one by Karen Oberlin and Sean Harkness. Karen had wished for years to make a duo recording with only guitar and vocals, and she found the ideal partner in Sean. When they first played together, spontaneously in an impromptu performance, they both knew they had to make an album together, or that became their great, mutual wish. Kitty Skrobela of Miranda Music, as is her way, made their dream come to life, their hope become reality, their wish come true. The fascinating, eclectic mix of extraordinary songwriters on this album, like Dorothy Fields, Paul McCartney, Fred Hersch and Joni Mitchell, unwittingly collaborated on this project as the song springboard for what these two artists wished to express. Collectively, Karen and Sean have brought to life this multi-faceted, deeply felt wish with a deliciously personal perspective on life and love. ... as if anything else matters. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Since 2006 she has performed at venues including The Dicapo Theatre, The Lighthouse Theatre, Feinstein's at the Regency and The Metropolitan Room. NYC: FRANK SHINER AT 54 BELOW
Singer/actor Frank Shiner will appear at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Wednesday, June 25th at 9:30 pm. The career path Frank Shiner originally envisioned took an unexpected detour. Starting out as a singer and actor, he appeared in more than 60 theater and television roles. To make ends meet he was also the bottle flipping bartender at the legendary nightspot Visage, who Tom Cruise came to see while preparing for his role in Cocktail. Eventually, Shiner put his career on hold to raise his family - until this year. Recently, Shiner took the stage at a local venue, resulting in one helluva comeback! A meeting with some music industry heavyweights resulted in The Real Me, Frank's aptly titled show and upcoming album. Frank Shiner's 54 Below debut concentrates on a new breed of standards featured on this recording, from the "deliciously jazzy" simplicity of Elvis Costello's "Almost Blue," to the "cool, sexy" rhythms of Tom Waits' "Temptation," to his current hit single, Randy Newman's beautiful "Feels Like Home." Taken together, the songs and storytelling each describe chapters in Shiner's long love affair with his wife Suzanne. There is a $30-$40 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
