SAN DIEGO: BERNARD DOTSON IN UNEXPECTED SONGS

Broadway Song and Dance Man Bernard Dotson brings storytelling and songs in his show "Unexpected Songs" toMARTINI'S ABOVE FOURTH (3940 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA - 619-400-4500) on Thursday, June 26th at 8:00 pm. In this retrospective from Disney Parks and Tours to Broadway and everything in between, Bernard brings his unique stories and song stylings to this very funny and heartfelt evening. MAC and Bistro award winner Tracy Stark is the Musical Director and Bob E. Gasper is the show's Director. There is a $25 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

LOS ANGELES: JUVON MALONE AT THE GARDENIA

Juvon Malone will perform atTHE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Thursday, June 26th at 9:00 pm. Malone grew up in the theater and began entertaining professionally at the age of 17. He signed an independent record deal with Cameron Records. Away from the business for about 10 years now, save for hosting a few local events and shows, he returns to the spotlight with "Juvon & Wyld Bunch of Friends," serving up an "entertaining gumbo of fun," with R & B, soul, comedy, a live band, poetry, and hip hop. Call for cover/minimum information.

SAN FRANCISCO: GARTH HUDSON & THE BAND AT YOSHI'S

Garth Hudson comes toYOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Thursday, June 26th at 8:00 pm to present his highly praised compositions and THE BAND songs. This tour is a remarkable showcase of jazz, rock and everything in between. Complete solo pieces are an integral part of the show. Hudson is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist. As the organist, keyboardist and saxophonist for rock group THE BAND, he was a principal architect of the group's unique sound. A master of the Lowrey organ, Hudson's orchestral tone sense and style anticipated many of the sonic advances of the polyphonic synthesizer. His primary instruments are piano, electronic keyboards, tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone and accordion. He is a much- in-demand and respected session musician, performing with dozens of artists and earning the accolades of many including Elton John, who has cited him as an early influence. Garth recorded /engineered the original Basement Tapes sessions in Woodstock with Bob Dylan. He is a lecturer, creator of innovative learning techniques, composer, concert performer, and music consultant. Sister Maud Hudson joins her husband of 35 years. She is a remarkable and versatile singer who is known for her renditions of both familiar and obscure songs. There is a $46-$65 cover.
