NYC: STACEY KENT AT BIRDLAND
Critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated singer Stacey Kent will perform at BIRDLAND(315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, June 10th through 14th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Stacey sings from the soul, telling her stories with faultless phrasing and a lucid, enchanting voice. Stacey returns to Birdland in support of her brand new Brazilian-flavored CD, "The Changing Lights," (EMI) a follow-up to "Dreamer In Concert," (her first ever live album) the Grammy nominated, "Breakfast on the Morning Tram," (2007) and all-French, "Raconte-moi," (2009). Stacey's band features Jim Tomlinson (sax) whose songwriting partnership with famed novelist Kazuo Ishiguro has formed the central plank in Stacey's recent albums. There is a $40-$45 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

Eddie Daniels & Roger Kellaway, with special guest Borislav Strulev, cello, present Duke at the Roadhouse atDIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Tuesday through Thursday, June 10th through 12th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. Clarinetist Eddie Daniels has enjoyed an illustrious five-decade career, performing and recording with such musicians as Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, Freddie Hubbard, Yusef Lateef, and George Benson. His musical partner in crime, Roger Kellaway, is both a major pianist and a composer/arranger of protean ability. His discography includes more than 250 albums, and he has worked with music legends across genres, from Elvis to Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie to Yo-Yo Ma, Joni Mitchell to Mancini, and from Quincy Jones to Michael Tilson Thomas. Fresh from winning the 2013 Grand Prix de l'Academie du Jazz for Duke at the Roadhouse, recognizing the best record of the year in France, these masters will perform together at Dizzy's Club. NYC: BLUE NOTE JAZZ FESTIVAL PRESENTS: RAMSEY LEWIS ELECTRIC WITH PHILIP BAILEY
Ramsey Lewis Electric with Philip Bailey (of Earth Wind & Fire) will be featured at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Thursday through Sunday, June 12th through 15th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. After his classic acoustic albums in the 1960s, the change that was in the air during the 70s enticed Ramsey Lewis toward the electric realm. With this new sound, he collaborated with the enigmatic and iconic, Earth, Wind & Fire. Sun Goddess, the result of this creative summit, was an album with sleek grooves and gorgeous melodies that continues to flow with the upliftng and positive vibes of that time. The album reached across the musical rainbow and, rightfully so, it became a huge cross-over hit; charting #1 on the Billboard Black Albums chart as well as the Jazz album chart and it charted #12 in the Pop chart. Philip Bailey is an R&B, soul, gospel and funk singer, songwriter, percussionist and longtime member of Earth, Wind & Fire. Bailey has won seven Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Philip performs as a special guest vocalist and percussionist with the Ramsey Lewis Electric Band performing the jazz and R&B classics which grew out of the two performers' legendary careers. There is a $40-$65 cover.
