NYC: CARLY OZARD DEBUTS "MIDLER ON THE ROOF"

After sold-out shows in New York City and her hometown of San Francisco, cabaret singer Carly Ozard will debut her latest show 'Midler on the Roof ' at 4:30 pm, Sundays, May 25th, June 1st & june 8th at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438). The show's musical director and pianist is Steven Ray Watkins, who has created a special arrangement of the Julie Gold classic "From a Distance". With support from her backup singers (and acclaimed vocalists in their own right) Karen Mack and Uraina Collazo, Carly will invite the audience to join in a rousing sing-along of "I'm Beautiful" from Midler's album Bathhouse Betty. Since moving to New York City two years ago, Carly Ozard has headlined distinguished cabaret venues including the Laurie Beechman Theatre and the Iridium with her acclaimed shows Shift Happens and Somebody to Love: My Musical Tribute to Freddie Mercury. Midler on the Roof is directed by Kristine Zbornik, a noted cabaret and Broadway performer and teacher, who has added extra zing to Carly's characteristically candid humor. There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: ALASKA: STEVIE FOREVER!

RuPaul's Drag Race finalist and cosmic starlet of stage and screen ALASKA invites you to her new show ' STEVIE FOREVER' at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Friday, June 6th at 8:30 & 10:15 pm, and Saturday & Sunday, June 7th & 8th at 7:00 pm. Alaska will channel the grand high priestess of rock herself. She will be joined by her stalwart companion and pianist Handsome Jeremy who becomes Stevie's on-again-off-again love and lifetime musical partner Lindsay Buckingham. Together they re-tell and re-live Stevie's history as a rock goddess and all-around badass witch. Spells will be cast, curses will be placed, and illicit substances will be consumed while Stevie and Lindsay tear through their all-time classics and re-imagine current hits in timeless Stevie style. Call for cover/minimum information.
