OPENS TONIGHT IN FLORIDA: JOHN PIZZARELLI & BUCKY PIZZARELLI AT THE ROYAL ROOM

John Pizzarelli & Bucky Pizzarelli return to THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) on Tuesday through Saturday, February 4th through 8th at 8:30 pm with a second show on Saturday, the 8th at 10:30 pm. John Pizzarelli has had a multi-faceted career as a jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader. Internationally known for classic standards, late-night ballads, and the cool jazz flavor he brings to his performances and recordings. Following in the tradition of his father, guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli, he has recorded as a bandleader for RCA, Chesky, Stash and Novus, and in 1997 appeared in the Broadway musical Dream, a revue of Johnny Mercer songs. Pizzarelli is among the prime contemporary interpreters of the great American songbook, bringing to the work his signature style and brilliant guitar playing. He has been featured on major recordings along with artists such as James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Rosemary Clooney, Donna Summer and Roberta Flack, and has performed numerous times on the country's most popular national television shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and Live With Regis & Kelly. Pizzarelli continues to tour throughout the United States, Europe and Japan, performing classic pop, jazz and swing, while setting the standard for stylish modern jazz. Several years ago, Pizzarelli became the 11th artist to receive the Ella Fitzgerald Award at Montreal's Festival of Jazz. Bucky Pizzarelli (John's dad) is a legendary jazz guitarist and banjo player, who has worked with everyone from Benny Goodman to Dick Cavett. He started his career with the Vaughn Monroe dance band back in 1944, and later became a member of the house band of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. In 2005, he was inducted into the ASCAP Jazz Wall of Fame. $125-$335 for prix fixe dinner & show; $55-$65 for show only.
