The Great Noise Ensemble presents Pan-Demonium at ATLAS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (1333 H Street NE, Washington, DC - 202-399-7993) on Friday, February 7th at 8:00 pm. The event is eclectic program of odd juxtapositions and grotesque visuals! Victoria Bond's Frescoes and Ash reflects on mosaics and frescoes discovered in the buried ruins of Pompeii. Armando Bayolo's Caprichos, in a new version for American ensembles, is motivated by Francisco de Goya's satirical and scathing engravings from early 19th century Spain. Ned McGowan'sUrban Turban is influenced by the juxtaposition of Western instruments with Indian/Karnatic rhythms. H.K. Gruber's classic "pan-demonium," Frankenstein!, takes its inspiration from subversive poems and engravings for children with an edge and humor that are decidedly adult.
