CABARET TONIGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO: MADS TOLLING QUARTET WITH KIM NALLEY
The Mads Trolling Quartet with special guest Kim Nalley will perform at YOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Wednesday, February 5th at 8:00 pm. Mads Tolling is an internationally renowned violinist, violist, and composer originally from Copenhagen, Denmark. As a former member for over eight years with the pioneering string group, Turtle Island Quartet, Mads has received two GRAMMY Awards. He regularly tours with acclaimed bassist Stanley Clarke, and he was featured on Stanley's album, "Toys of Men." Since 2007 Mads has lead his own group, Mads Tolling Quartet. His recording The Playmaker released in the fall of 2009, features Stanley Clarke and jazz greats Russell Ferrante & Stefon Harris. Mads' latest album with his quartet Celebrating Jean-Luc Ponty - Live at Yoshi's came out in the spring of 2012. Mads has been featured on NPR's Morning Edition and his recordings have received rave reviews in Downbeat Magazine, Strings Magazine, Washington Post & San Francisco Chronicle. Mads has performed with Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, Kenny Barron Leo Kottke & Paquito D'Rivera. There is a $23 cover.
