NYC: MOLLY POPE, OKAY?
Critically acclaimed neo-retro cabarettist Molly Pope spends an intimate evening with you and the music at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438) on Thursday, January 23rd at 7:00 pm with her show 'Molly Pope, Okay?'. Molly plays it fast and loose with a new set list of eclectic songs and madcap antics. Juxtaposing the heyday of mid-century New York City cabaret with a downtown modern sensibility, she tackles material spanning the 20th century with her signature old-school style. She is joined on piano by the brilliant Brian J. Nash. Molly Pope is a critically acclaimed cabarettist/actor whose shows have played Joe's Pub, Feinstein's at Loews Regency, Ars Nova, The Laurie Beechman Theater and the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in Australia. She was a regular cast member in the hit downtown variety show Our Hit Parade at Joe's Pub and is a frequent guest at the award-winning The Meeting* with Justin Sayre. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
NYC: SHARON RUBEN: "THE BEST IS YET TO COME"
The Best Is Yet To Come" will be presented at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Thursday,January 23rd at 7:00 pm. The show is an hour long musical celebrating Life, Love and Second Chances. This inspirational evening stars Sharon Ruben and is conceived and directed by Richard Sabellico. There is a $35 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.
NYC: SIDDHARTHA THE MUSICAL
Fresh off of its smash-hit European tour, Siddhartha, The Musical makes its American premiere with three special concert performances at 54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, January 23rd at 7:00 pm; and Friday, January 24th at 7:00 & 9:30 pm. Inspired by Herman Hesse's timeless novel, the musical tells the story of Prince Siddhartha's spiritual quest for enlightenment with a sizzling, Italian and South Asian-influenced pop-rock score that features raw, sexy performances. This adaptation of one of the world's most iconic emotional journeys will delight fans of the novel, and audiences who appreciate the unique transformative power of musical theatre. Written and directed by Isabeau with music by Isabella Biffi and Fabio Codega, the show was originally developed in the Italian prison system. The special concert performances of Siddhartha, The Musical will be narrated in English and performed in Italian and is presented by Gloria Grace Alanis, Fabrizio Carbon and Broadway International Entertainment. There is a $40 cover charge, which includes a cocktail reception.
NYC: DONNA VIVINO RETURNS TO 54 BELOW TO CELEBRATE HER DEBUT CD
Donna Vivino, the rising Broadway and vocal star, will celebrate the release of Beautiful Dreamer - her debut solo album from Ghostlight Records - with a special performance at 54 BELOW(254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) on Thursday, January 23rd at 9:30 pm. The album was released in stores and via online outlets December 10, 2013. The veteran of Broadway's "Wicked" and "Les Miserables," Vivino will reprise her solo concert "It's Not Easy Being Green" with special numbers from the new recording. She will be joined by Musical Director Ken Levinsky on piano and Jeff Ganz on bass. Beautiful Dreamer weaves 13 diverse songs into a thematically-cohesive collection from Broadway, Hollywood and Tin Pan Alley. Jerry Vivino - the veteran New York musician and longtime member of the Conan O'Brien house band - leads the disc's all-star jazz quartet and serves as producer. There is a $25-$35 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.
