NYC: NATALIE DOUGLAS IN "THE BIRTHDAY SHOW"

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents singer Natalie Douglas, who will be celebrating and performing "The Birthday Show" atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Monday, January 20th at 7:00 pm. The critically acclaimed Nightlife, Bistro & seven-time MAC Award winner Natalie Douglas returns to her favorite perch at Birdland as part of the Broadway at Birdland series with an all new concert, "The Birthday Show," celebrating her birthday with longtime musical director, Mark Hartman (Sondheim on Sondheim, Avenue Q) andher band of Broadway All-Stars. After the success of her first Birthday Show last year, Natalie can't wait to bring a new version of the program to life. The Birthday Show springs from all of Natalie's influences; from the eclectic tastes of her late parents to the music of her native Southern California, her ancestral East Texas roots and her adulthood in New York City. There is a $30 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: JIM CARUSO'S "CAST PARTY" MONDAYS AT BIRDLANDFEATURED OPEN MIC EVENT

Every Monday night at 9:30 pm, Broadway impresario Jim Caruso hosts "Cast Party", a combination open-mic, networking event and party atBIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) during which the biggest stars on Broadway relax on their night off by performing their favorite songs in an informal setting. Cast Party is a mix of music, impromptu performance and cocktail party revelry, where showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati hit the stage alongside up-and-comers to serve up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: BEN WILLIAMS & SOUND EFFECT

Ben Williams will perform at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Monday, January 20th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. Williams is one of the youngest and brightest musicians on the scene today who is helping to push the legacy of jazz forward and through the reflection of his own distinct sound and flavor in hip hop, gospel, and Rhythm & Blues. He is highly recognized as a national and international acclaimed bassist, bandleader, performer, music educator, and writer who has performed with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, Pat Metheny, Terrence Blanchard, Roy Hargrove, Benny Golson, Stefon Harris just to name a few; and has consistently toured the Continents of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North & South Americas. There is a $10-$15 cover.

NYC: ALEXIS P. SUTER BAND AT THE IRIDIUM

The Alexis P. Suter Band performs at THE IRIDIUM JAZZ CLUB (1650 Broadway, NYC - 212-582-2121) on Monday, January 20th with shows at 8:30 & 10:30 pm. When the great Bluesman B.B. King first heard Alexis P. Suter sing a few years ago, he was visibly impressed - and said so after her opening set for him at BB Kings NYC. The Alexis P. Suter Band has earned similar accolades from other well-known musicians and performers, including Levon Helm of The Band. A true vocal phenomenon, bass/baritone powerhouse Suter and her band began wowing audiences in the northeast as regular performers at Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble Sessions in Woodstock, NY. Since then, they have been in constant demand at North American festivals including, The Toronto Waterfront Blues Festival, The Cincinnati Blues Festival, FloydFest in Floyd, VA, The Kitchener Blues Festival in Kitchener, Ontario, Briggs Farm Blues Festival, PA; The Pocono Blues Festival; The Vermont Blues Festival, The Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival in British Columbia and The Columbia Blues Festival in Columbia, SC. There is a $20 - $27.50 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

NYC: THE MILTON SUGGS PHILOSOPHY: MORE THAN A DREAM: A CELEBRATION OF DR. KING

The Milton Suggs Philosophy with Marquis Hill, trumpet; Christopher McBride, alto saxophone; Willerm Delisfort, piano; Ameen Saleem, bass; and Jeremy "Bean" Clemons, drums, will perform atDIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Monday, January 20th with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. After a triumphant debut at Dizzy's this past September, Milton Suggs returns to celebrate the late, great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Suggs is a gifted up-and-coming vocalist who was encouraged to pursue vocals professionally by Jazz at Lincoln Center Managing & Artistic Director, Wynton Marsalis. He draws influence from the past century and beyond of jazz, soul, and R&B, having studied artists from Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, and Jon Hendricks, to Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. The Milton Suggs Philosophy has recently been lighting up the New York club scene with unique and culturally savvy performances. Suggs' vocals will please a wide range of fans, and we're excited to see what the group has in store for this very special occasion. There is a $25 cover.
