CHICAGO: DAN MICHEL IN "THE SPARK IN MY EYE"

Singing bartender Dan Michel presents his new show, 'The Spark in My Eye' atDAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830) on Fridays, January 24th & 31st at 8:00 pm. He is joined by his musical director/ partner George Howe. What is the spark in your eye? Dan shares his newly found spark with music from David Friedman, Leonard Bernstein, Maltby & Shire, Carla Gordon and others. Stop by to see a this show from one of Davenport's regular piano bar performers ... this time in the cabaret room. There is a $15 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

FLORIDA: STEVE TYRELL AT THE ROYAL ROOM IN JANUARY

Steve Tyrell returns in January for his sixth engagement in the THE ROYAL ROOM at THE COLONY HOTEL (155 Hammond Avenue, Palm Beach, FL - 561-659-8100) where he made his debut in January 2008. Performances are scheduled for Tuesdays through Saturdays, January 7th through 25th at 8:00 pm.The Grammy Award-winning vocalist is truly a renaissance man. In his four and a half decades in the music business, he has achieved great success as an artist, producer, songwriter, music supervisor, and performer. With his breakthrough performances in Father of the Bride and Father of the Bride II, Tyrell reinvented and re-popularized classic pop standards for a modern-day audience. His hits "The Way You Look Tonight," "The Simple Life," "Crush On You" and "The Sunny Side of The Street," have launched thousands of weddings and millions of romances. He's held top positions at Standards, Swing, and Big Band outlets with a devoted following at key Adult Contemporary Radio. He has appeared with The Boston Pops, twice with The New York Pops, The Nashville Symphony, and The Houston Symphony on several occasions. At the request of the Sinatra family and Quincy Jones, Tyrell was the featured performer with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at their season opening concert in which Frank Sinatra was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. Also at the request of the Sinatra family, he reprised that performance this past May at Carnegie Hall. This is one of the rare times the family has reached into the vault of original Sinatra arrangements to share them with another artist. NEW ORLEANS: THE QUEENS OF KING: A TRIBUTE TO CAROLE KING

The Queens of King: A Tribute to Carol King, starring Lisa Picone and Dorian Rush will be presented at THE ALLWAYS LOUNGE & THEATRE (2240 St. Claude Avenue, New Orleans, LA - 504-758-5590) on Thursdays through Saturdays, January 16th through 25th at 8:00 pm. Big Easy Award-winning performers Lisa Picone and Dorian Rush are the Queens of King! Accompanied by music director Natalie True, they'll pay homage to the amazing Carole King who wrote and co-wrote over 400 songs that have been performed by over 1,000 recording artists. Picone and Rush will perform the songs that King made famous ("I Feel The Earth Move", "It's Too Late", "So Far Away") and the ones she wrote that others made famous ("Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", "Pleasant Valley Sunday", "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman", "You've Got A Friend").The show spans King's spectacular career, from her first big break in the 1960s up to the present day. SAN FRANCISCO: THE SPINNERS AT YOSHI'S

The Soul-infused R&B group The Spinners will perform at YOSHI'S(1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600) on Friday & Saturday, January 24th & 25th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. It should come as no surprise that The Spinners have always made timeless music. Their classic group sound and approach never loses its universal appeal. Throughout the years they have acquired twelve (12) gold records with hits on top of both Pop and R&B charts and they are one of the few groups who can boast of four lead singers. Today, original member Henry Fambrough is joined onstage by lead singer Charlton Washington, high tenor Harold "Spike" Bonhart and a soul-infused 5-piece band. There is a $29-$39-$65 cover.

SAN FRANCISCO: SAM HARRIS "HAM: SLICES OF A LIFE"

Celebrating the release of his new book, HAM: Slices of a Life, (a collection of stories and essays - Simon & Schuster), Tony Award nominee Sam Harris will appear at FEINSTEIN'S AT THE NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 866-663-1063) on Friday, January 24th at 8:00 pm and Saturday, January 25th at 7:00 pm. This will be his Feinstein's at the Nikko debut. He calls the show a "liter-usical" - a theatrical hybrid of excerpts from the book artfully interspersed with Broadway and pop songs. Sam Harris' diversified career has run the gamut from singer and songwriter to actor on Broadway, film and television to writer, director and producer. And now author. After pulling a weekly audience of more than 25 million viewers and going on to win "Star Search" in its premier season, Harris and his powerhouse pop, gospel and theater influenced vocals have never looked back. Jason Brock will bring his show 'All That Jazz' to SOCIETY CABARET AT THE HOTEL REX (562 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA 94102 - 800-982-2787) on Friday, February 24th at 8:00 pm. You've seen Jason before: as a finalist on the X-Factor with Simon Cowell, in musicals like "Hedwig & the Angry Inch" and performing at cabaret clubs around the country. However, you've never seen Jason performing just jazz. Well, Jason's doing that in his new show, "All That Jazz." He'll sing standards from the Great American Songbook like "Misty" and some of his favorite tunes like "Bein' Green" & He'll also sing up tempo hits from musicals like "Old Devil Moon" and "My Favorite Things." With Jason's unique voice that Epic Records CEO, LA Reid, called "a songwriter's best friend," you are guaranteed to enjoy this show. Plus, on piano will be the talented Dee Spencer, Head of Music & Dance at SF State University and founder of the jazz program there. Don't miss this unique performance.
