The soulful smooth jazz alto-sax of Mike Phillips will be heard atYOSHI'S (1330 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-655-5600 - ) on Wednesday, April 17th at 8:00 pm. When Mike Phillips puts his saxophone to his lips, magic is about to happen. Experts know greatness. That's why Phillips is the only musician in the world to have recorded and toured with the legendary "Big Three" of American soul music: Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Prince. But you don't have to be a music deity to appreciate Phillips gifts. In a short time, the New York native has exploded on the world music scene becoming the jazz man with hip-hop flavor known for blowing away audiences on stage, television and with chart-topping recordings. Phillips and his soulful yet funky grooves brought standing ovations at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival and the inaugural balls for Presidents Clinton and Obama. And his television performances on the Grammys, the Soul Train Awards and as host of his own show Mikes World on the Centric and BET television stations thrilled millions of viewers.
