NYC: RUTH CARLIN: MOON SONG CD RELEASE
Ruth Carlin presents "Moon Song" atTHE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturday, April 6th at 8:00 pm and Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 pm. The show, celebrates the release of Ruth Carlin's debut CD "Moon Song"! With songs by Joni Mitchell, Kander & Ebb, David Friedman, Ahrens & Flaherty, James Taylor, and Ruth Carlin and more, we get an intimate glimpse into Ruth's multifaceted world. She will be singing ten songs from the CD as well as a few other favorites, along with some of her exquisite poems. Ruth will be joined by her musical director, Paul Greenwood, plus Dick Sarpola on bass and John Redsecker on drums, reprising their contributions to the "Moon Song" CD. The show is staged by director Scott Barnes. Since her first solo show at Danny's Skylight Room in 2005, Ruth has been performing regularly at the Laurie Beechman and The Duplex. She has a broad repertoire, including songs by Jacques Brel, Leonard Cohen and Alec Wilder as well as Noel Coward, Cole Porter and Benny Goodman. No matter who it was written by, Ruth strives to get to the heart of a song, make it her own, and share it lovingly with her audience. There is a $20 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
