CELEBRATING MARCH IS CABARET MONTH
Baritone saxophonist Claire Daly will perform on Thursday, March 28th at 6:00 pm at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080). Claire will tell you that her life changed on Sept. 23rd, 1971, when as a very (very) young girl, playing saxophone for 3 months, she heard the Buddy Rich Band in concert. After attending the Berklee College of Music, she began an education of another kind - making a living as a musician. Her career has included anchoring the sax section in the Diva Big Band for 7 years and recording 5 CDs with brilliant, quirky composer/pianist Joel Forrester's "People Like Us." At Birdland, Daly celebrates the release of "Baritone Monk" with her Quartet. The CD is released by North Coast Brewing Company, makers of "Brother Thelonious Ale," which is dedicated to Thelonious Monk. 100% of the CD proceeds go to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.
