LONDON CABARET TONIGHT: THE FITZROVIA RADIO HOUR AT THE CRAZY COQS
Following three sell-out Edinburgh runs, a national tour and two West End Seasons, THE FITZROVIA RADIO HOUR arrive at THE CRAZY COQS AT BRASSERIE ZEDEL (20 Sherwood St, Piccadilly, London W1F 7ED - 020 7734 4888) on Wednesday through Saturday, May 29th through June 1st at 8:00 pm. The group will perform some of their favourite radio tales, including "The Day They Stole They Eiffel Tower" and "The Champion" - all sponsored by "Soho Cigarettes" (Smoke the smoke the experts smoke! Smoke "Soho"!). 1940s-inspired radio adventures, brilliantly evoking a dinner-jacketed age of casual imperialism - with sound effects created live by the cast! Celebrating an age when radio was brand new and radio drama was stuffed with more stereotypes and cut glass accents than afternoon tea at Lords, the Fitzrovia Radio Hour use new material to recreate the spirit of vintage radio plays for a modern audience. The Fitzrovians revel in the glamour of a bygone era, from costume and performance to props. They transport audiences to their unique universe - a wonderful imagining of how commercial 1940s radio should have been done. The Fitzrovia Radio Hour lovingly satirise the casual imperialism and stiff upper lips of the period, throwing them into relief with physical comedy and a modern twist to produce a heady comic cocktail.
