NYC: AN EVENING WITH STEVE ROSS WITH SPECIAL GUEST NANCY ANDERSON - OCTOBER 29th

Steve Ross, "the Crown Prince of New York Cabaret," will perform the music of Cole Porter, Noel Coward, Stephen Sondheim and other famous composers at MERKIN CONCERT HALL at the KAUFMAN CENTER (129 West 67th Street, NYC - 212-501-3330) on Saturday, October 29th at 7:30 pm. Proceeds of the benefit concert will support Heartbeats Of the World, Inc. The mission of Heartbeats of the World ("HOW") is to enrich the lives of women, adolescents, and children in underserved areas of the world by providing medical resources and educational opportunities to address poverty, unemployment and the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and teenage pregnancy. Through prevention and training, we will diminish the impact of these conditions and improve lives. Founded in 2002 by Dr. Karlene ChinQuee, Heartbeats of the World, Inc. evolved from a lifelong pursuit of humanitarian causes. When Dr. ChinQuee heard Maya Angelou speak about the problems in Jamaica and how people should feel empowered to do more to address them, she launched her own grassroots organization, and HOW transformed from an idea to a reality. In 2008, two hurricanes rendered inoperable our principal school on the island of Jamaica. Teaching is now done at a temporary facility. HOW desperately needs funds to construct a new school building and to help us expand our teaching activities.

A fixture for over 45 years and now a legend in the cabaret community, Steve Ross reopened the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hoten and has appeared internationally in London, Paris, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, among other cities. In New York he performed at Ted Hook's Backstage, the Hotel Algonquin, Cafe Carlyle, Stanhope Hotel, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Birdland. Steve's very special guest will be musical star performing artist, Nancy Anderson.

Nancy Anderson is a 20-year veteran singer, actor and dancer of the Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional stages. She made her Broadway debut as "Mona" in A Class Act, played the roles of "Helen" and "Eileen" in the Broadway revival of Wonderful Town and starred as Lois/Bianca in the National Tour and West End premiere of Kathleen Marshall's Broadway revival of Kiss Me Kate, for which she received Helen Hayes and Olivier Award nominations. Nancy received a 2000 Drama Desk Nomination for best supporting actress for her 8 female roles in Jolson & Co., a 2006 Drama Desk Nomination for best leading actress in Fanny Hill and a 2011 Helen Hayes Award Nomination for her performance in Side By Side By Sondheim at the Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA. Nancy's debut album, Ten Cents A Dance led to a concert career ranging from sharing the Carnegie Hall stage with Michael Feinstein in his Valentine's Day concert, Hooray for Love Songs to singing with the Atlanta Symphony as well ash regular appearances at the legendary jazz club, Birdland. Nancy received the 2011 Noel Coward Cabaret Award as well as a Bistro Award for her debut cabaret appearance at Don't Tell Mama's in 2004.

Tickets $25, $50 and $75, tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
