Yes, you read that right! The music is fun, the stories are outrageous and mostly true. Don't worry, the names have been changed to protect the guilty. Charlene Brooks is bringing her new show "Confessions Of A Cabaret Cantor!" to the THE SKOKIE THEATRE (7924 Lincoln Avenue, Skokie, IL - 847-677-7761), following her latest sold out performance, on Saturday, November 6th at 8:00 pm. Veteran of cabaret, jazz, theater, and country music, Charlene Brooks is also a Cantorial Soloist! And thats not all: at a deaf temple! The music is fun, the stories are outrageous and mostly true (don't worry, the names have been changed to protect the guilty). This show will be sign language interpreted by the very entertaining Donna Reiter Brandwein. Tickets are $25.

Ann Hampton Callaway takes the stage atBOB EGAN'S NEW HOPE - SUPPER CLUB AND CABARET (6426 Lower York Road (Route 202), New Hope, PA - 215-862-5225) for three performances: Saturday, November 6th at 8:30 pm and Sunday, November 7th at 3:00 & 7:30 pm. Ann is an insatiable creative spirit. As a champion of the great American Songbook, she has made her mark as a singer, pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger, actress, educator, TV host and producer. A born entertainer, her unique singing style blends jazz and traditional pop, making her a mainstay in concert halls, theaters and jazz clubs as well as in the recording studio, on television, and in film. She is best known for Tony-nominated performance in the hit Broadway musical "Swing!" and for writing and singing the theme song to the hit TV series The Nanny. Callaway is a Platinum Award winning writer whose songs are featured on five of Barbra Streisand's recent CD's. The only composer to have collaborated with Cole Porter, she has also written songs with Carole King, Rolf Lovland and Barbara Carroll to name a few. Janice Hall, internationally renowned opera singer and emerging cabaret artist, is debuting her first solo show, Grand Illusions: The Music of Marlene Dietrich, at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) for a five-performance run Remaining performances are scheduled for Saturday, November 6th at 4:00 pm; Saturday, November 13th at 4:00 pm; Sunday, November 21st at 4:00 pm; and Monday, December 8th at 9:30 pm. A highly regarded artist in Europe and the U.S, Janice Hall has distinguished herself in opera houses and on the concert stage around the world, including the Vienna State Opera; the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; the Salzburg Festival; and the New York City Opera. Ms. Hall's debut solo show will pay tribute to the life and legend of one of the true icons of the twentieth century. Marlene Dietrich began her career in the fabled cabarets and revues of 1920s Berlin, conquered Hollywood as one of its most beautiful and fascinating stars, took a brave stand as a German against Hitler during World War II, and, later in life, reinvented herself as a cabaret and concert artist. In Grand Illusions, Janice Hall explores the woman and the myth through her music and reinterprets many of Dietrich's famous songs, bringing to them the beauty and distinctive quality of her own voice as well as her considerable dramatic gifts. The show features Berlin cabaret songs, jazz standards, French chansons, folk songs, and, of course, Dietrich's famous film songs. The show features music of Friedrich Hollaender, Cole Porter, Lerner and Loewe, Fats Waller, Robert Stolz, Charles Trenet, and Pete Seeger. On Sunday, October 31st, jazz vocalist Jack Donahue will be appearing at THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592 - ) at their famed Jazz Brunch, with sets at 12:30 & 2:30 pm. The show will celebrate the release of Jack's new live recording: "Parade: Live in New York City". Donahue received both the 2008 and 2009 "Best Male Jazz Vocalist" awards from MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets), an Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) award for "Best Male Vocalist", and a Bistro Award. Donahue's last two CD releases, A Small Blue Thing (Two Maples Music) and StrangeWeather (PS Classics), were released to wide critical acclaim. $24.50 includes brunch, show and a drink.

"Little Edie" Beale, of Grey Gardens fame, will be appearing at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Sunday, October 31st at 5:00 pm with a new show, "Edie Beale Live at Reno Sweeney". Beale performed a cabaret act at the famed Reno Sweeney in New York City over the New Years' week of 1978. Gerald Duval, Edie's producer during the time of her appearance at Reno Sweeney, has re-created the essence of those magical nights using dialogue, songs and text from the historic event resulting in a not-to-be-missed, intimate evening of theatre. There is a $15 cover plus a $15 food/drink minimum.

On Halloween 2010, Sunday, October 31st at 10:30 pm, Sarah Mucho and System Noise will resurrect their acclaimed, live interpretation of David Bowie's classic album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars at THE PRODUCERS CLUB (358 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-315-4743) Ziggy will be part of SPACE ODDITY: HALLOWEEN 2010, a space-themed Halloween event that will also feature The Lounge-O-Leers and Wounded Buffalo Theory, as well as fun prizes, drink specials, and tons of free candy. Originally part of the award-winning cabaret series Under the Covers, Sarah Mucho, Kurt Leege, Paul Pouthier, Sanford Arisumi, Michael Isaacs, and Clare Cooper, under the direction of Kristine Zbornik, gave their final performance of Ziggy Stardust in October 2005 after only ten performances, leaving audiences begging for more. Equipped with a new creative team, which includes award-winning independent filmmaker/playwright Aaron Mark acting as director and the additions of Liz Lark Brown, Rob Malko and Mark Bailey on stage, Mucho and company will breathe new life into this theatrical rock concert and take it to even greater heights, making the last five years well worth the wait. Also performing at the event are the wacky and fabulous Lounge-O-Leers (Ricky Ritzel and Aaron Morishita) and the Brooklyn-based progressive rock band, Wounded Buffalo Theory. Singer Parker Scott joins with Dylan Bandy, Lauren Frankovich and Dathan B.Williams in Operatically Speaking, a new cabaret experience at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788) on Sunday October 31st at 3:00 pm. This is opera on an intimate scale, blurring the line between stage, concert and cabaret. The performances are fueled with passion and honesty, and humor. The music comes from the worlds of opera, operetta and Broadway, featuring the works of Beethoven, Bernstein, Bizet, Copland, Gordon, Handel, Lalo, Lehar, Monteverdi, Rimsky-Korsakov and Sondheim. Individually, the cast has performed in venues in New York from Carnegie Hall to Broadway to Off-Off Broadway and has also appeared throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Conductor Peter Szep is the music director. Audrey Saint-Gil will be at the piano. The show is directed by Gerry Geddes and Mr. Williams.
