Chicago's adored cabaret duo Amy & Freddy will be appearing at the RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189) on Saturday, May 5th at 10:00 pm to celebrate the release of their newest album, "We Get Along." Amy & Freddy have produced four successful and unique albums; "Amy and Freddy - the debut", "Life is a Cabaret", "Naturally Flawless and Feeling Good", recognized and praised nationally by audiences and critics alike. This season marks Amy & Freddy's 15th anniversary performing together, gracing stages coast-to-coast, both large and small, on land and at sea with their one-of-a-kind wit and musical prowess. CARAMOOR CENTER FOR MUSIC AND THE ARTS (149 Girdle Ridge Road, Katonah, NY - 914-232-5035) presents Cabaret in the Music Room, a spring benefit, on Saturday, May 5th at 8:30 pm in the historic Rosen House. Headlining the evening is Liz Callaway. Ms. Callaway, well known as a Broadway actress, singer and recording artist, made her Broadway debut in Stephen Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along". She received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Baby, and for five years, appeared as Grizabella in Cats, singing the hit song "Memory". She also starred in the original casts of Miss Saigon, The Three Musketeers, and The Look of Love. Ms. Callaway has toured the world singing in concerts and musical reviews. In great demand as a vocalist in film, she was the singing voice of the title characters in Disney's Anastasia, The Swan Princess, Beauty and the Beast, and also of Princess Jasmine in "Aladdin." Carole J. Bufford sings about the "dry" years in "Speak Easy," her new Prohibition-era show running at the THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440 ) with performances on Saturday May 5th at 4:00 pm; Thursday, May 10th at 9:30 pm; Saturday, May 19th at 4:00 pm; and Thursday May 24th at 9:30 pm. Bufford will perform classics made famous by Sophie Tucker, Al Jolson, Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong, Helen Kane, Annette Hanshaw and more. Mark Winkler and Mary Foster Conklin will perform on Friday, May 4th at 8:00 pm atVITELLO'S (4349 Tujunga Avenue, Studio City, CA - 818-769-0905). Mark and Mary will once again join forces to do an evening of the old and new. Mark will be doing tunes from his CD Sweet Spot which was just named as one of the top 5 Jazz Vocal CDs of the Year by Jazz Times Magazine, as well as lots of new songs. Mary will undoubtedly uncover the "sweet spot" in a great American songbook gem or two and you can bet there will be a Bobby Troup and Matt Dennis tune in the mix as well. The two vocalists met over their love of Bobby Troup and Matt Dennis and have been singing together in NY and Los Angeles for the last few years. Mary being a true New Yorker is loathe to leave the chaos of Manhattan, so her LA visits are always special occasions. With arrangements by the renowned music director Alex Rybeck, "Herman on Herman (with a Touch of Merman)" gives the Jerry Herman songbook a whole new spin, lending a fresh take on these classic Broadway show tunes. Backing Herman on Herman are Rybeck on piano, Jered Egan on bass and Rex Benincasa on drums and percussion. The same threesome play on the album, augmented by strings, brass, winds, and guitarist Sean Harkness. "Herman on Herman ... Peggy Sings Jerry" (the CD's title) features exciting new arrangements of songs from "Hello Dolly!" "Mame," "La Cage aux Folles," "Mack & Mabel," and other Herman hits. In the studio, Herman and Rybeck added new songs, including "The Best of Times is Now," "Before the Parade Passes By," and "If He Walked Into My Life." Jazz legend Annie Ross continues her unprecedented, record-breaking, multi-year run at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM(34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440), every Tuesday night in May at 9:30 pm. Ms. Ross has been an abundant contributor to the art of jazz for over 50 years. Born in the UK, she has been a permanent resident of the USA for many years and a US citizen since 2001. Annie Ross is one of the pioneers of vocalese and the composer of "Twisted", one of the most well known examples of that art, as well as "Farmers Market", "Jackie" and many others. A founding member of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross, considered the greatest jazz vocal ensemble of all time, her influence is present in all subsequent practitioners of vocalese. "Twisted" has been recorded by a host of vocalists, including some not normally associated with jazz, including Joni Mitchell and Bette Midler. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

Sharon Clark returns for an encore performance of her February THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) show on Tuesday, May 1st at 7:00 pm. Her most recent CD release, "Do it Again - My Tribute to Shirley Horn," is on its third printing, and she grabs top honors wherever she goes. D.C. based Ms. Clark has headlined the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival on the National Mall and the historic Lincoln Theater. The Cape May Jazz Festival has hosted Ms. Clark three times by popular demand. Both the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra and The Ludacris Foundation chose Ms. Clark to perform for their separate tributes to Quincy Jones. Famed bassist Keter Betts invited Ms. Clark to be the featured vocalist for his 75th Birthday Celebration, hosted by the Smithsonian Institution. Ms. Clark also has appeared as a soloist with the Richmond Symphony. In addition, Ms. Clark performed by invitation for President Clinton and other dignitaries at a retreat sponsored by the Democratic National Committee. The Tommy Igoe Big Band will perform at RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189 ) on Mondays, April 2nd. 9th, 16th 23rd & 30th at 7:30 pm, featuring 15 of the Bay Area's finest musicians, including members of Tower of Power, Santana and The Doobie Brothers. Drummer Tommy Igoe's Big Band is the hottest big band in NYC, and has been playing to sold out audiences every Friday night at the famed BIRDLAND for the past five years. He brings the same musical acumen to San Francisco, and endeavors to change the face of nightlife on Mondays. On Monday, April 30th at 9:30 pm, Outer Critics Circle nominee Chester Gregory performs "My Story Pt. 1" at THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590). Directed by Shaun Derik, featuring pianist Brian Whitted, Gregory describes My Story Pt.1 as n intimate evening sharing his story to music, with just a piano. Chester Gregory burst onto the theater scene as Jackie Wilson in the "The Jackie Wilson Story" for which he received major acclaim. His Broadway debut was in the Tony Award Winning Musical Hairspray; other Broadway credits include Tarzan and Cry-Baby. On tour in Dreamgirls in 2009 he was awarded Best Supporting Actor by the NAACP Theater Awards for his powerful performance as James "Thunder" Early. Chester is currently starring in the smash-hit Broadway musical Sister Act for which he earned the Outer Critics Circle Award Nomination. Though widely celebrated as a talented actor, Chester remains true to his love of music. This Just A Piano performance invites us to see Chester Gregory in a more personal setting. Varla Jean Merman will appear in her new show "The Book of Merman" on Tuesdays through Sundays, April 17th through 29th at 8:00 pm (Sundays at 7:00 pm) at RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189). She will be accompanied by Tom Shaw (piano) and Roberta Drake (drums). Jeffery Roberson aka Varla Jean Merman just recently starred in Willard Beckham's new musical Lucky Guy opposite Emmy Winner Leslie Jordan in NY at the Little Schubert Theatre. He also just completed shooting the feature film Varla Jean and The Mushroomheads which he wrote, starred in and produced. Jeffery guest starred as Varla Jean on Ugly Betty last year in the final season of the show. He was also featured on Bravo's Project Runway Season 5 as the winning model for the show's drag challenge. There is a $35-$40 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
