An accomplished professional violinist, Beaver played concerts and orchestra dates until 2006, while performing her dream stage role as Mama Rose in Gypsy, she had an onstage accident that shattered several bones in an arm and wrist and put her playing on hold. Janice Hall, internationally renowned opera singer and 2011 Bistro Award winner, is presenting her new show, I'd Rather Be Doing This ..., at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) for three performances, Sunday, February 12th at 4:00 pm; Monday, March 5th at 7:00 pm; and Wednesday, April 18th at 9:30 pm. In I'd Rather Be Doing This ... , Janice takes the audience on a tour of her favorite things, places, and composers, presenting fresh and imaginative renditions of songs that range from the sophistication of Cole Porter and Cy Coleman to the raw emotion of Piaf's "L'Accordeoniste" and the taut drama of Kurt Weill. In addition, Janice premieres the deliciously risque title song written especially for her by her musical director, Matthew Martin Ward, with lyrics by her director, Peter Napolitano. The show is a winning combination of wit, wisdom, and seriously beautiful singing, by a world-class performer who is as at home in the world of cabaret as she has been on the international opera stage. I'd Rather Be Doing This... also features Tony Romano on guitar. There is a $20 cover plus a 2-drink minimum. $15 cover for members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.
