Gary Brumburgh brings his show "The Kid from Euclid Avenue" to THE GARDENIA(7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) on Friday, October 24th at 9:00 pm. In his show he retraces his musical roots and gives a fresh jazz spin to tunes by The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, The Fifth Dimension, and more, with support from musical director and "driving force," Dave Ferris. At one time an elementary and special education teacher, Mr. Brumburgh moved from Upstate New York to Los Angeles to pursue what became a two-decade career in TV, film, and the stage, landing musical leads in stock and repertory productions of South Pacific (starring John Raitt,) City of Angels, Company, The Fantasticks, Cabaret, Kiss Me Kate, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Of Thee I Sing, and many more. New York-based vocalist and songwriter Marcus Goldhaber celebrates the release of his new CD "A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening" at THE RRAZZ ROOM IN NEW HOPE (6426 Lower York Road, New Hope, PA - 888-596-1027) on Friday, October 24th at 8:00 pm. Goldhaber has been garnering more critical raves for his interpretations of straight-ahead jazz standards while earning a reputation among critics and fans for his accessible songwriting. WASHINGTON, DC: NAJEE AT BLUES ALLEY

Najee will appear at BLUES ALLEY (1073 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC - 202-337-4141) on Friday through Sunday, October 24th through 26th, with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. A native New Yorker, Najee began his iconic career playing clarinet, saxophone and flute in his hometown Jamaica, Queens New York. While in high school his tutelage included not only Jimmy Heath but Frank Foster, and Dr. Billy Taylor at the Jazzmobile in Harlem. Honing his skills as a flutist he additionally studied with Harold Jones at the Manhattan School of Music. Najee is the recipient of many music awards including the Soul Train Music Award for Best Jazz Artist, NAACP Image Award, & Trumpet Awards. Najee has toured extensively throughout the U.S. including Europe, Asia and Africa. Najee is one of the innovators of the urban contemporary smooth jazz movement with two Platinum and four Gold records; he is a true pioneer of the sound. There is a $55 cover.

WASHINGTON, DC: LUIS FAIFE AT BOHEMIAN CAVERNS

Acclaimed saxophonist Luis "Faife" Sanchez Jr will perform at BOHEMIAN CAVERNS(2001 Eleventh Street N.W., Washington, DC - 202-299-0800) on Friday, October 24th with shows at 8:00 & 10:00 pm. Faife was born in Holguin, CUBA in 1974, and at the age of nine he started his music lessons and saxophon classes, with his father Luis Sanchez Sr and later at The Vocational Art School were he completed 5 years of Elementary Level Studies. He received a BA in music at The Music Conservatory "Jose Maria Ochoa". By the age of 18 he move to La Habana capital city of CUBA were he studied for about 5 more years at The National Institute of Music (ISA). During this time in La Habana at the age of 22 he was touring the world with some of Cuba's top level band. At the age of 24 he decided to emigrate to The United States of America, and soon he was performing with the best musicians in differents fields like Brazilian Music, Afro-Cuban Music, Straigh Ahead Jazz, Bebop, Blue, Cool Jazz, Free Jazz, Experimental and Fusion. During almost 16 years in the States the artist has been making a name by himself as a top level musician. Through his compositions you can feel the blend of energy and concepts of incredibles different kinds of music. There is an $18 cover.

BOSTON: JASON YEAGER TRIO CD RELEASE AT REGETTABAR

New York-based pianist/ composer Jason Yeager celebrates the release of his new CD 'Affirmation' at THE REGATTABAR at the Charles Hotel (1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA - 617-395-7757) on Friday, October 24th at 7:30 pm. Yeager's music is deeply expressive and multi-faceted. Yeager is releasing his second trio album, "Affirmation", encompassing ten original compositions and unique arrangements of music by Lennon/McCartney and Olivier Messiaen. The new disc reflects Yeager's love of jazz and collaborative improvisation, combined with elements of 20th century classical music, the blues, Latin American grooves, and more. With his trio and as a sideman, he's performed at some of the top venues in the Northeast and beyond, including the Kitano, Smalls Jazz Club, and Cornelia Street Cafe (NYC), the Regattabar and Jordan Hall (Boston), Twins Jazz Club (DC), Thelonious (Buenos Aires), and the Green Dolphin (Cape Town). BOSTON: JOSHUA REDMAN CD RELEASE: TRIOS LIVE

Joshua Redman, one of the most acclaimed and charismatic jazz artists to have emerged in the decade of the 1990s celebrates the release of his new CD 'Trios Live' at SCULLERS JAZZ CLUB (400 Soldiers Field Road, Allston, MA - 617-562-4111) on Friday through Sunday, October 24th & 25th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm and the 26th at 7:00 pm. Born in Berkeley, California, he is the son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedroff. The process of discovery is important to Joshua Redman, as is the communication and dialogue with his fellow musicians. He enjoys not knowing where the musical conversation will go. In addition to his solo career, Redman has recorded and performed with countless other artists, from the Dave Matthews Band and the Rolling Stones to B. B. King and Herbie Hancock. The Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars return to THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Tuesday through Sunday, October 21st through 26th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. History has produced its share of great artists and great people - John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie was both. As a performer, he left behind an incredible record of innovation and inspiration; as a composer, a broad repository of musical masterpieces; and as a man, a legion of friends, colleagues, and compatriots who remember him with the same degree of love and esteem they reserve for his work. The Dizzy Gillespie Big Band and smaller Alumni All-Star group are the direct descendants of Gillespie's musical ventures. The groups have featured some of Dizzy's closest compatriots: senior statesman and NEA Jazz Master James Moody; musical director John Lee; and veteran Gillespie alumni Roy Hargrove, Roberta Gambarini, Cyrus Chestnut, Steve Davis, and Willie Jones III. From Stephen Sondheim and Hal Prince to Cy Coleman and Trevor Nunn, Gregg shares music from the great Broadway productions he has starred in, alongside unmissable insider stories about life on and off the Broadway stage. Gregg has starred in a string of Broadway shows including Cats and Anything Goes, which led to his starring role in City of Angels in 1989. His performance as Stine garnered Gregg his first Tony nomination and consolidated his position as one of the most highly regarded romantic Broadway leads of his generation. In 1994, Gregg originated the role of Colonel Ricci in Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical Passion, which led to Sondheim casting Gregg as Prince Charming in Into The Woods and Sweeney in Sweeney Todd. NYC: DIANE MARINO QUARTET AT BIRDLAND

The Diane Marino Quartet (Diane Marino: Vocals/Piano; Greg Twombley: Sax/Flute; Frank Marino: Bass; Neal Smith: Drums) will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Thursday, October 23rd at 6:00 pm. When you combine an accomplished vocalist, pianist, and arranger all in one individual, you have the dynamic Diane Marino. Diane was born in Manhattan, NYC. She started her early piano training of classical studies and jazz improvisation from the age of 10. Diane graduated from NYC'S 'Famed' High School for the Performing Arts and later received her B.M. degree from Mannes College of Music in Manhattan as a piano performance major where she studied piano with world-renowned concert pianist Murray Perahia. In her over 25 year career, Diane has performed Great American Song Book, traditional jazz, Latin and Brazilian jazz to captivated audiences in jazz venues, performing arts centers and festivals . Marino has recorded five critically acclaimed CDs. All of which have been on the National JazzWeek charts. She has recorded and shared the stage with jazz legends Houston Person, Joe Henderson, Wycliffe Gordon, Harry Allen, Pete Escovedo, Tania Maria, Kirk Whalum, pop music icon Felix Cavaliere and many others. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: KENNY BARRON & DAVE HOLLAND AT BIRDLAND

Kenny Barron & Dave Holland will perform at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080) on Tuesday through Saturday, October 21st through 25th with shows at 8:30 & 11:00 pm. Over the course of a nearly five-decade career, bassist/composer Dave Holland has exemplified that evolutionary process in musical form, reinventing his concept and approach with each new project while constantly honing his instantly identifiable voice. He is currently an artist in residence at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of Miami. Dave Holland is an English jazz double bassist, composer and bandleader who has been performing and recording for five decades. He has lived in the United States for over 40 years. There is a $40 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

NYC: THE DIZZY GILLESPIE ALL-STARS AT THE BLUE NOTE

The Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars return to THE BLUE NOTE (131 West 3rd Street, NYC - 212-475-8592) on Tuesday through Sunday, October 21st through 26th with shows at 8:00 & 10:30 pm. History has produced its share of great artists and great people - John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie was both. As a performer, he left behind an incredible record of innovation and inspiration; as a composer, a broad repository of musical masterpieces; and as a man, a legion of friends, colleagues, and compatriots who remember him with the same degree of love and esteem they reserve for his work. The Dizzy Gillespie Big Band and smaller Alumni All-Star group are the direct descendants of Gillespie's musical ventures. The groups have featured some of Dizzy's closest compatriots: senior statesman and NEA Jazz Master James Moody; musical director John Lee; and veteran Gillespie alumni Roy Hargrove, Roberta Gambarini, Cyrus Chestnut, Steve Davis, and Willie Jones III. All of them are outstanding band leaders, educators, and recording artists in their own right. There is a $20-$35 cover.

NYC: ANN HAMPTON CALLAWAY: THE SARAH VAUGHAN PROJECT CD RELEASE CELEBRATION

Ann Hampton Callaway, one of the preeminent voices of the American Songbook, will perform at DIZZY'S CLUB AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER (33 West 60th Street, NYC - 212-258-9595) on Thursday, October 23rd with shows at 7:30 & 9:30 pm. She is joined on stage by Ted Rosenthal, piano; Tim Horner, drums; and Dean Johnson, bass. Ann is a tireless performer who has reached acclaim on Broadway, in theaters, on television, and in a variety of concert halls and jazz clubs around the country. She will celebrate the release of The Sarah Vaughan Project: Live at Dizzy's, recorded last year with the same world-class band. Sarah Vaughan, the NEA Jazz Master and GRAMMY Award-winner, is an all-time favorite jazz vocalist of incalculable influence. It takes courage to dedicate a full concert to this legendary vocalist, but Callaway has repeatedly demonstrated her ability to cover diverse and extraordinarily challenging material with taste, humor, and technical strength. There is a $40 cover.
