In her Art, she has a need that she cannot deny: to allow her soul to speak through whatever music she sings. As has been the way with artists such as Patsy Cline, Carole King and Linda Ronstadt, Erin has found her authentic voice despite a string of stops, starts and diversions. What once seemed challenging and unreachable has proven to lead to her to destiny's door. Erin's debut at The Metropolitan Room promises a night of music that is sure to touch a part of your soul while paying homage to the music that has touched hers. Over a year in the making, Erin Cross at The Metropolitan Room is pinnacle event enroute to Erin's destiny, the absolute need to sing. It is the honesty of their soul through music that moves us and compels to hear what they have to say. Armed with not only a solid vocal foundation, Erin holds both a Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music Education. Simply put, when Erin is not on the stage performing, you may walk into her classroom and find her working, or "performing" with her middle school students as Choral and Drama Director. Although trained classically, Erin is very passionate about musical theatre and the music that moves her. Erin has studied tirelessly to execute the seamless vocal transition through not only classical repertoire and musical theatre, but jazz, pop and rock as well as other contemporary styles. THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) presents Collin Marrero on Saturday, May 23rd at 9:00 pm. In addition to his dynamic range, his voice is full of warmth, emotion and a graceful power that has been found in the legendary performers of yester-year. From pop to R&B, soul to jazz, and even the theatrical, his voice combines elements of these genres fluidly, with the end result a spectacularly broken mold. He began his professional music career on the stages of the Connecticut Cabaret Theatre, working his way up the ranks from chorus boy to leading man, continually wowing crowds with his scale straddling. Collin has played well over two dozen roles and counting, allowing his stage presence to develop steadily stronger. There is a $22.50 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: THE VAUDEVILLIANS: BRINGING UP BABY
After selling out an often-extended Off-Broadway run in 2013 (which attracted the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Joan Rivers, RuPaul and SNL's Kate McKinnon), a national tour, a 3-month Australian tour (where she was nominated for the Aussie equivalent of a Tony Award), and a summer run in Provincetown, RuPaul's Drag Race favorite Jinkx Monsoon will return to New York with the World Premiere of THE VAUDEVILLIANS: BRINGING UP BABY, a new musical comedy co-starring composer and musician Major Scales. This limited engagement begins performances May 21st at
THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). Performances are on Thursday through Sunday, May 21st through 24th at 7:00 pm and Thursday through Saturday, May 28th through 30th, with matinee performances on Sundays, May 24th & 31st at 1:00 pm. The show returns for more appearances in April. Dr. Dan and Kitty Witless were put on ice in the Twenties, and had their entire music catalogue purloined by today's pop artists. Now the hottest act ever frozen alive is back again, with more swinging hits from their stolen songbook! There's only one problem: Kitty's "in a family way" and no one's quite sure where the kid came from. Can The Vaudevillians still put on a show while bringing up baby? Major Scales is the evil twin of Richard Andriessen, a musician, writer and performer based in Seattle. He has written everything from award-winning New York shows on the east coast to music for amateur adult films on the west. Jinkx Monsoon is the alter ego of Jerick Hoffer, who graduated with a degree in theatrical performance from Cornish College in Seattle. With ten years experience on stage, Hoffer is a seasoned Portland-born entertainer who has captured the attention of his native northwest region. As early as 2006, Hoffer appeared as the lead dancer in the world's largest drag queen chorus line, which made the Guinness Book of World Records. By 2012, he had advanced to roles in Seattle theaters, playing Moritz in "Spring Awakening" (produced by Balagan Theatre), Angel in "Rent" (produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre), and Hedwig in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (produced by Balagan Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group). In 2014 he was nominated for the Helpmann Award (alongside the likes of Cate Blanchett, Ivo Van Hove, Denis O'Hare and Baz Luhrmann), the Australian equivalent of a Tony, for his performanace in The Vaudevillians. There is a $25-$50 cover plus a $20 food/drink minimum.
NYC: GINGER MINJ - CROSSDRESSER FOR CHRIST - THE MUSICAL
Current RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Ginger Minj will make her New York City debut with the premiere of "Crossdresser For Christ - The Musical" at
THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909). In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth. And it was fabulous! So begins "Crossdresser For Christ - The Musical", a musical comedy that tracks Ginger Minj's quest for spiritual enlightenment in song and story. Raised as a Southern Baptist in Lake County, Florida the self-described "chubby little lady-boy" gets tired of having hell and damnation shoved down her throat. So she begins her own search for alternative answers. It is a wild and wacky journey that promises to have you on your knees before the night is over. A relig-ish experience. Ginger Minj has long reigned as The Comedy Queen of The South, with the pageant titles, including "Miss Gay United States 2013," "Miss National Comedy Queen 2012" and others. Originally from Leesburg, Florida, she now calls Orlando home. Minj cites classic funny ladies Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball as her idols. Ginger's future career goals, in addition to winning the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar," on "RuPaul's Drag Race" is to follow in the footsteps of similar plus-sized comedians like Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson. And she's already got the acting credits; before becoming Ginger Minj, this talented performer was a child actor starring in a series of Christian movies and books on tape, and even won a Best Actor Award for the state of Florida in 2002. Tickets are $22 plus a $20 food/drink minimum. A $40 VIP ticket including priority seating and meet-and-greet is also available. To purchase tickets, call 212-352-3101 or visit

NYC: SYD STRAW / THE WINTERPILLS AT JOE'S PUB
Vocalist, singer/songwriter, and guitarist Syd Straw plays a double-feature show with The Winterpills at
JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Saturday, May 23rd at 7:00 pm. Straw first made a name for herself as part of the Golden Palominos, a band led by Anton Fier that enjoyed a cult following in the 1980s. Her Capricorn Records debut, War and Peace, was released in 1996, and since then, her unique blend of folk-rock and blues-rock has found a home with Triple A (adult album alternative) radio stations and their audiences around the country. Straw released Surprise in 1990 to good reviews. That recording chronicled Straw's emergence as a songwriter; she had thought of herself primarily as a song interpreter before that. On Surprise, Straw was joined by Michael Stipe (R.E.M.), John Doe (X), Ry Cooder, Daniel Lanois, Don Was, Richard Thompson, and Marshall Crenshaw. Straw is an enormously gifted vocalist and songwriter who has her own distinct musical vision, as evidenced on her self-produced War and Peace. That vision is a rootsy one, with lots of country and blues influences. The 14 originals on the record prove it. Although she didn't set out to, she also plays rhythm guitar on many of the tracks on the album. Starting with their self-titled debut in 2005, Winterpills have built a vibrant career with their exquisite chamber-pop songs." From the group's origins one cold winter in 2004 as a song circle for heartache, the band has truly blossomed, releasing three full-length albums: a self-titled effort in 2005, The Light Divides in 2007 and Central Chambers in 2008 and the 2010 E.P. Tuxedo of Ashes. 2012's All My Lovely Goners embraced the hushed vocal harmonies and graceful chamber-pop sound the group has made its trademark, while pushing the quintet into new sonic realms. In October, 2014, Winterpills released their 5th full-length, the archival cover's project Echolalia. There is a $20 cover.
