TONIGHT IN NYC: CANYON FOLKIES: OVER THE HILLS & UNDER THE COVERS

TONIGHT IN NYC: CANYON FOLKIES: OVER THE HILLS & UNDER THE COVERS

A journey through a time and place where music legends would become legendary is presented in Lauren Fox's "Canyon Folkies: Over the Hills & Under the Covers" at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) on Thursday, May 30th at 7:00 pm at 9:30 pm. She is joined by Jon Weber (Piano/Musical Director), Peter Calo (Guitar) and Ritt Henn (Bass). From the mid-sixties to the early-seventies, something magical took place in Southern California and it all happened in a bucolic stretch of hills, just above the Sunset Strip, called Laurel Canyon. Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The Byrds, The Mamas & The Papas, The Eagles, and Crosby, Stills & Nash, to name just a few, all lived, loved, created, and collaborated there. Lauren Fox tells the story of this epic time in American music history, and sings the songs that it inspired. Lauren Fox was born and raised in New York City. She has been featured in several films, including Pi, Noon Blue Apples, Revolution Summer, and We Need To Talk About Kevin, and on TV in New Amsterdam and Fringe. Her New York theater credits include: Hillbilly Women, and GO-SEE, ArcLight Theater, and Heathens, Theater For A New City. Lauren's last show, "Love, Lust, Fear & Freedom: The Songs Of Joni Mitchell & Leonard Cohen," ran last Spring with sold out shows, received critical acclaim, and will soon be available as a live CD. Lauren is the 2012 recipient of the MAC and Bistro Award for Debut Artist. There is a $25 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
