PNW: MASTERS OF THE WIND IN VANCOUVER
Saxophoneist George Brooks will perform a rare duo concert with Indian bansuri (bamboo flute) maestro, Ronu Majumdar titled Masters of the Wind. on Saturday, May 25th at 8:00 pm atVANCOUVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE AUDITORIUM (1155 East Broadway, Vancouver, BC, CA -http://www.brownpapertickets.com). They will be joined by Ramdas Palsule (tabla). Ronu is a leading exponent of north Indian classical music and has performed with George Harrison, Ravi Shankar and Ry Cooder . George Brooks is considered the "leading American voice" in Indian jazz fusion and has performed with Zakir Hussain, John McLaughlin, Terry Riley, and Etta James. Ronu and George have been performing together for the past ten years, often in the company of jazz guitarist Larry Coryell with their group Bombay Jazz. Tickets are $25-$30.
