New York entertainers Dawn Derow, Marcie Henderson, Cedric Leiba and Jason Reiff will premiere "Everyday People", a new evening of song celebrating the hopes, the dreams and the trying times we live in today at THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATRE(407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909) on Saturday, June 30th at 7:00 pm. Songs are drawn from the 'new' American Songbook. Musical Director is Andrew David Sotomayor, with Tedd Stafford (guitar), Donna Kelley (percussion) and Kai Ando (bass). Inspired by the wisdom and humor of artists like Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews, Randy Newman, Gwen Stefani, Jackson Browne, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, The Scissor Sisters, The Rolling Stones and mor, four of New York City's powerhouse vocalists share the stage in contemplation of our ever evolving American Dream and its relevance on our small planet. The Legendary Trini Lopez brings his show "Mr. La Bamba" to RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189) on Tuesday through Saturday, June 26th through 30th at 8:00 pm and Sunday, July 1st at 5:00 pm. Trini Lopez recorded a series of upbeat tunes for Reprise during the mid-'60s, including a smash rendering of the folk standard "If I Had a Hammer" in 1963. The Dallas native cut some Ritchie Valens-influenced rockers for the King label prior to his discovery by producer Don Costa. Lopez's hits capture the excitement of his live performances, and his driving renditions of "Kansas City" (1963), "Lemon Tree" (1965), and "I'm Comin' Home, Cindy" (1966) were substantial sellers. This week will showcase New Work from Amanda Green (High Fidelity, Bring it On); Jeff Blumenkrantz (Urban Cowboy); Laurence O'keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde) and the vocal talents of: Tom Compton, Michelle Duffy, Rachel Flynn, Ann Harada, Julia Murney, Kevin Pariseau, Alysha Umphress, Michael Winther debuting work from the musicals: Heathers, The Musical; Life of the Party; Sarah, Plain & Tall; Walk of Shame; Month Upon a Time; Hands on a Hardbody and perhaps a surprise or two. There is an $18 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

NYC: LYRICIST JACK LECHNER WITH "HERE GOES NOTHING"

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presents "Here Goes Nothing," an evening of songs by Drama Desk-nominated lyricist Jack Lechner, on Monday, June 25th at 7:00 pm at BIRDLAND (315 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-581-3080 - ). Guest performers will include Nancy Anderson, Jeremy Schonfeld, Chris Critelli, Desmond Dutcher, Jeannine Frumess, Andy Monroe, Lucas Steele, and Karen Ziemba. The music director will be Boko Suzuki. Lyricist Jack Lechner wrote the 2010 off-Broadway musical The Kid with composer Andy Monroe and librettist Michael Zam. The show won the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Jerry Bock Award, a Jonathan Larson Grant, a GLAAD Media nomination, a Lucille Lortel Award nomination, and five Drama Desk nominations, including one for Lechner's lyrics. "Here Goes Nothing" will feature songs from The Kid, as well as from a number of unproduced and yet-to-be-produced shows with lyrics by Lechner. There is a $25 cover plus a $10 food/drink minimum.

Bill Corry, versatile Broadway singer and actor of stage and film, reprises his show "Songs from the American Songbook" with John Bowen at the piano atDON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - ) on Monday, June 25th, at 7:00 pm. =Corry's repertoire includes "Where or When" (Rodgers & Hart), "It Never Was You" (Kurt Weill/Maxwell Anderson), "The Riddle" (Frank Wildhorn), and "I'm Staying Young" from the Broadway musical Take Me Along (Bob Merrill). Corry's musical theatre credits include Fiorello, Fiddler on the Roof, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and the Broadway performance of Inherit the Wind. Among his film credits are Percival Beech in the multiple-award-winning I'll Bury You Tomorrow, the projectionist in One for Love, and Edward, the lead in the upcoming short film Together. On television, Mr. Corry has played The Homeless Man in Ghost Stories and the grandfather of the first face transplant recipient in a recent Japanese production (Gyotan News). There is a $10 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.
