NYC: PEACHES AND CRIME IN "THE MAN WHO DIED!"

54 BELOW (254 West 54th Street, NYC - 646-476-3551) presents Peaches And Crime in "The Man Who Died!" on Saturday, August 1st at 9:30 pm. Inspired by the Golden Age of Radio, vaudeville sensation Peaches and Crime makes the audience part of the action in this raucous adventure! From the front doors of a Manhattan skyscraper to the treacherous Island of Skulls, anything is possible in this live drama where your choices determine if whoever done it can be brought to justice! Can you outwit a murderer over dinner? Come and discover the answer in a night of cabaret music and madcap disaster! The modern audience hungers for spectacle, and a group has at last stepped forward to sate that hunger. In an age where bands are a dime a dozen and musicians three-a-penny, Peaches And Crime stands at the forefront of a vaudeville renaissance. Original music by husband-and-wife songwriting duo Angela and Daniel Schwartz intermingled with comedic and dramatic performance turn an evening out into a showcase of love, wit and murder. On stage, this act never passes up an opportunity for dramatic flourish, comic antics, or sophisticated charm. From murder ballads to drinking songs, no style is unfamiliar to these eclectic entertainers. Colorful costumes, diverse instruments and flashy dances make any Peaches And Crime show well worth the cost of admission. Each individual's talents - be it mind-reading or pugilism - are shown to their finest, and together they wow even the most jaded dance-hall connoisseur. Such a group could easily rest on its laurels, but as they debut this new murder mystery it's easy to see that in this case the best is yet to come. There is a $25-$65 cover plus a $25 food/drink minimum.

On her full-length debut for Epic Records, "Hunter," she casts an unbreakable spell with a powerhouse voice, theatrical swing, and a soulful poise. "Hunter" boasts powerful and personal renditions of Prince's "Call My Name" along with Hall & Oates' "She's Gone" and Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing In The Dark" in addition to its eleven tracks. "I Want You" tempers electronic elements with her overpoweringly soulful delivery. The title track and album opener "Hunter" boasts a seductive hook with cinematic noir flair. Since "Hunter's" release, Morgan's music videos have accumulated more than 15 millions views (and climbing) and her viral cover of Ariana Grande's "Break Free" appeared on America's #1 morning show, Good Morning America. Morgan just returned from a 34-show tour through Europe with Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox and is currently with them on a 19-show US tour before heading out for solo dates in the summer. NYC: HOWARD FISHMAN CD RELEASE: UNCOLLECTED STORIES

Howard Fishman celebrates the release of his eleventh recording, Uncollected Stories (Monkey Farm Records) at JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Wednesday, July 22nd at 7:00 pm, featuring members of his live ensemble from across the span of his wide-ranging, genre-bashing career. Howard has been a mainstay at Joe's Pub from the very beginning, and his appearances here have always featured something a little extra special for the hometown crowd - a new album release, a project debut, a work in progress. Audiences have come to expect the unexpected at Howard's shows, and he has never failed to deliver or surprise. There is a $20 cover.

NYC: DIANE BIRCH - 'SPEAK A LITTLE LOUDER'

Diane Birch brings her show 'Speak A Little Louder', based on her CD of the same name, to JOE'S PUB at THE PUBLIC THEATRE (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - 212-967-7555) on Wednesday, July 22nd at 9:30 pm. A marriage of darkness and light, of pain and abandon lies at the core of 'Speak A Little Louder,' Diane Birch's first new album in four years. It's a captivating and deeply moving record; a window into her complex and challenging journey into womanhood documented with intense emotional honesty, indelible melodies, and rousing hooks. 'Speak A Little Louder' follows the pianist/ singer/ songwriter's extraordinary 2009 debut, 'Bible Belt,' which opened in the Billboard Top 100 and prompted comparisons to Laura Nyro and Karen Carpenter along with glowing reviews from The New York Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and more. Birch, who had worked primarily as a songwriter prior to signing with S-Curve Records, honed her skills as a performer on the road supporting the album, sharing the stage with everyone from Stevie Wonder to Betty Wright and appearing on The Today Show, Letterman, Leno, Conan, Kimmel, and Ellen along the way. Amidst the success, though, was devastating loss. At the close of the 'Bible Belt' project, Birch faced the end of a long-term relationship, recovering from the pain of heartbreak only to lose her father to cancer a short time later. In the wake of it all, the prospect of completing a new record felt like an impossible feat and left Birch questioning her future, both personally and artistically. There is a $20 cover.
