DID YOU HEAR THE ONE ABOUT THE COBBLER AND THE ELVES?

DID YOU HEAR THE ONE ABOUT THE COBBLER AND THE ELVES?

I'm sure you've heard this one before - the cobbler who was totally exhausted but still had dozens of shoes to repair before morning. He toiled far into the night but the pile of work seemed to only get larger! He dozed off finally, only to awaken to find that while he slept a dozen or so elves sneaked into his shop and did all this work for him! There on the shelves were all the shoes - perfectly repaired and sparkling with a fresh shine!

I'm hoping that little tale of yore will come true for me overnight. I've made a commitment to go to Provincetown this weekend to attend and cover for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE Cape Cod's ONLY Cabaret Festival, CABARET FEST 2011, sponsored by the Provincetown Business Guild that will take place on Friday through Sunday, April 15th through 17th. Performers from New York, Boston, Providence and the Cape will come together for one magical weekend, and thanks to the Guild, my hotel room is paid for - all I need to do is cover the transportation costs (about $250 for my friend Daniel - who handles the heavy lifting - and myself) and meals while there. A few minutes ago I purchased the bus tickets online as an act of faith - but it leaves me very little cash to cover meals and other expenses.

Now I'm asking something from you - on faith. That, if you have not yet done so, you will join CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE tonight (while I'm sleeping after an exhausting day) either as a 2011-2012 SUSTAINING MEMBER at $10 or as a full SILVER ($20) member or more (full members get full benefits including a chance to enter our CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE 2011 MAC AWARD CONTEST going on right now). You can see all the levels and benefits of membership - just CLICK HERE

I wouldn't even have to ask you this if some other "elves" had kept their promises to send payments for banners, memberships and ads this week - over $280 was promised but when it wasn't received yesterday, and I inquired, the response is just "the check is in the mail". And today the mailbox was empty. I'll be on my way to Provincetown before Friday's mail arrives.

That means I need only 14 SILVER "elves" or 28 SUSTAINING "elves" to make the trip this weekend a relaxing one (and a chance to have a bowl or two of clam chowder at Cape Cod prices at a decent restaurant). Will you work some of your magic tonight to help out? Of course, if this is impossible, I will understand - I know from personal experience over the past 12 months or so what "can't afford" means.

Thanks for reading this far - and if its in your heart (and available on your credit/debit card) here's a link on my website where you can join up right away - just enter any amount and I'll know what its for. I promise not to peek until morning (our bus leaves Port Authority at 7:30 am arriving at 5:30 pm!)
